since entering the MVS market i have noticed the following:
1) cart color
some are black. clear blue, clear green, white...i have not seen any others...is there a significance to the color.
2) some have the serial numbers scratched off....why?
3) the last cart i bought on ebay had no game label...just a piece of tape with the title written on it...should i be concerned?
any help on these and any other important info on MVS carts is appreciated.

1. Many official carts come in numerous colors. Not many are considered rarities, the only one I can think of that is rare is the pink KOF'02. Also, The game Bang Bead only came in a clear case with a clear red PCB guide.

2. At one point in time people were worried about resale issues, so they scrathed of the serials to avoid tracing back to the original purchaser.

3. Sometimes Arcade ops would Rip off the japanese labels and simply replace it with a new one so that they could read which game it is.

Edit: Oh yeah, welcome to the forums ;) . It's nice to see someone new here asking valid questions for a change.

Also, just a heads up: You cannot tell if a cart is authentic or a counterfeit without actually looking at the chips on the game boards themselves.

if you open the cart and take nice pics of the pcb, then post it in the Tech forum, you will get a definate answer pretty quick.

Sweetnes..you asked a couple of questions that i too had wondered about. Glad to see a newb w/ good input. Welcome to the forums. I've also noticed that the Japanese sometimes use different colors on teh newer mvs carts as opposed to the American ones. But i haven't seen an constants in colors so KOF 2k2 may have been an exception. Hard to say. :spock:
