Since most of the best games for the CPS II are JPN green Boards, is it possible to get the boards to be in the English language? Like burn new proms and swap them with the old ones? Make a common Japanese "B" board and play like it's uncommon English "B" board? Just wondering if it was possible.

Yes, it's possible. Basically, you could kill off your game, and then send the eeproms to Razoola in Finland and he will revive it, so you don't have to worry about the battery. Plus, if he has the asian, hispanic, and USA dump of the game, he will also burn it onto your board. So then you could play your green Japanese board in English.

And game boards are B boards, not A board.

My bad. Corrected previous post. That might be a cool thing to have done.

Well, just make sure he has the dump of said game before you go killing off your board.

Oh, I forget you get a juke box option too if you get him to revive your game. Listen to the music and sound effect of your game without actually playing it.

300wins is essentially right but hes not entirely accurate; yes once Raz has changed your program roms to his Phoenix Edition you can choose the region the game will run in, but it's not a case of several versions of the same game somehow all being burnt to the same roms. As far as I understand it, CPS2 games from different regions essentially contain the exact same data on their roms, it's just a question of what region code the board has stored on it's eeprom. You can check this out with a CPS2 emulator like Nebula; changing the region is just a matter of changing the code at a certain address. The different title screens etc are already there, even if they are not needed for that particular revision of the game.

Dinodoedoe: check out http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/ - you'll see that the vast majority of CPS2 games did get an English release. Of course it is often easier (and cheaper) to buy the Jap green version, but even then some Jap releases support an English language mode which you can choose via the test menu. If you do decide to have Raz update your games to his Phoenix Edition I thoroughly recommend it, but bare in mind that he does state that changing the game's region via the Phoenix menu could result in gameplay problems and trouble free operation is only guaranteed in the default region mode...
