Eariler today I put KoF 2000 in my PS2 and the disc error screen shows up. I put in the game again and I get another disc error. I got confused because the has no scartches, no fingerprints, no dust, no nothing. Then I put in KoF 2K1 (It's in the same condition as 2K) and it didn't work neither. I know it's not my PS2 because I put in all my games and they work.

Can someone please tell me whats wrong with my games?

welcome to the bullshit quality testing that is PS2 my friend...my PS2 decided on its own that it would no longer read my GGX game among others it randomly chose to no longer acknowledge...disc read errors are one of the more well known bane of PS2 owners...

How odd, The same thing happened to my GGX game. Since my KoF games will no longer work on my PS2 I'm going to trade it for another game.

If the cds dont show any sign of damage, then it is the flaky laser that is wrong on the console. It causes problems reading specific cds, more so than others. I heard that some people would adjust the intensity by opening the console to make all games readable again. I also heard that you could just call sony and have them fix it up for you for free.

if you have a DC then try to get your SNK ports for that system...
I only use the PS2 for stuff I can't play on other systems like Tenchu...damn Sony and their shitty quality control for this platform...

The PS2, unfortunately, has a mind of its own at times. Do understand that this may have something to do with your copy of the disk. My recommendation is to test the game on someone else's PS2. If and then this doesn't work, kick your PS2 out the window and buy an XBOX. Microsoft has all of SNKP's 2D games coming out with LIVE support since Sony does not play well with others in the 2D realm. If I sound a little bitter it's due to the fact that I bought a PS2 for the combo pack and the upcoming titles that will most likely get halted such as SVC Chaos and KOF 2K2. The PS2 does, however, have problems running many things. Champions of Norrath, for example, the new 4 player Action RPG that I happen to be playing right now with 2 friends, continuously has glitches and bugs. I do understand this may have something to do with programming within the game, but the hardware differences of the new next-gen consoles are starting to come to light as new software is being developed at higher levels.

I may just do that. I don't want to do myself but I do know some people in my area who can do it for me.

Unfortunately, my bro sold our Dreamcast to a friend of his.

Haven't had any problems yet with KOF 00/01 on my PS2. But you never know with the PS2 hardware.

Guilty Gear X & Contra: SS use to run fine at first. But when I came back to them a couple of months later, all I get is disc read errors now. And the discs are very well taken care of. No scratches or anything like that.

Actually I had that problem with FFX-2.How I fixed it was on the main PS2 menu, press the triangle button to go to the sub menu, than go to the console menu, and switch the diagonis to on.
Gomen if my spelling's not that good. But I think that should fix the problem without having to take apart your system.
