I've never played football frenzy but tecmo superbowl on the NES was the greatest sports game ever made for many, many years.
The Genesis and super nintendo ones cannot compete because the NES version had the best teams,menus, and stats by far. Not much you can do against QB Eagles, Bo Jackson, Ronnie Lott, or L.T. when they are in excellent condition.
That is one game that shouldnt be sold for less than 50 dollars, its just too great!

Man Da King you took the words out of my mouth BEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER!!!!! That 3 wide bottom set for the eagles when Cunningham runs got my MOST BROKEN CONTROLLER AWARD.

Tecmo Bowl on NES is better than Football Frenzy, FF was garbage, nothing good about that game if you ask me.

I'm also going to vote for Football Frenzy ONLY because I can beat my friend Rons Ass in this game playing it on the Big Red.
Though,.. Tecmo Bowl & Super Tecmo Bowl NES Own this game hands down..

He may have better luck playing it against me on the AES but I never have given him the opportunity..:D

But when we play Tecmo Bowl & Super Tecmo Bowl He Whips my ass ..I have never beat him,he's too fkn good at these games..

I've also played the crap out of Tecmo Bowl & Super Tecmo Bowl whereas I still enjoying Football Frenzy..

In my opinion

In my opinion, tecmo super bowl is the best football game of all time...It stands up against todays games. I love the gameplay and the simplicity of it...As soon as football came out vertical style, it began to suck and i stopped playing them...

I used to have tournaments of tecmo superbowl at lunch break back when I was a sophmore in High School.
I think I mainly used K.C.
Dont fuck with Derek THomas.

Yeah Tecmo Super Bowl is one of my fav football games besides Joe Montana for Sega Genesis. Those 2 games rock! :buttrock:

Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES was the absolute best football game I ever played.

And Tecmo Bowl before it was already superb.

Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES is hands down the best football game ever made. Some one should forward this thread to EA and Sega so they learn what people REALLY want in a football game.

Super Tecmo Bowl for me. I have never broken more controllers, or had my ass physically kicked more often than when my brothers and I were playing this game. Just thinking about it makes me flinch. Damn, my brothers can hit hard!

When I worked retail at Babbages many years ago, often these jock-type dudes would come in, and always say the same damn thing before a new Super Tecmo Bowl game was to come out...

In loud, mumbling, fast dialect,

"YOU GOT TECMO?"

Its an inside joke/saying amongst my circle of friends, and has been ever since.


But all kidding aside, its not Tecmo that was as hot a seller as was the EA Sports stuff. Madden'xx, NHL'xx, etc.... these games were the best selling games throughout the 5 year period I worked there. I'm serious... we sold more EA Sports games than any other genre/brand. WE would get them in by the hundreds while the REAL videogames (we all know what those are, guys) would go on discount in a week.

However these jock dudes would always have the last laugh from us, as their once new, shiny, exaulted Madden/NHL game would depreciate faster than any other game ever, often dropping from $50 to < $5 in one year. And why did these guys favor EA Sports? It was all about STATISTICS. Gameplay was somewhat important, but it was all about following the lives of each real life player in the game, doing the season through the superbowl, etc...

Made me fuckin sick. Well at least I had my RPG's, shooters, and of course my NEO GEO to make things better. God save Japan for pumping out the best software of the otherwise, best time in videogame history, the 16 bit era.
