Seriously guys;
Since atomiswave is based on cartridge, wouldn't it be possible to bootleg it? or even roms available for it?

If it can be done, wouldn't it be stupid for SNKP to take the route of atomiswave instead of Naomi or Naomi 2 GD rom route?
Naomi setup seem to be available more widely in arcade centres than atomiswave?

Almost every arcade centre locally are already built in with Naomi setups, have not seem much of atomiswave setups.

Not sure if SNKP policy is to prevent piracy/bootlegs or to make better games with better hardware. (Don't think atomiswave is a better hardware than Naomi)

As soon as SNKP released all their flatship games on atomiswave, you will see all the bootlegs start appearing. Maybe roms will start appearing again too.
:crying:

It would be like history repeating again, any comments or opinions on this?

Odds are it probably already is.

China and Brazil people are smart, they can figure shit out fast.

Sooner or later it will, they can hack just about anything now a days, so if it does happen, don't be suprised.

As of now, people haven't written successfully for Saturn, much less CPS3. It's a safe bet to say that Atmiswave is safe from emulation for the time being. Especially since it's just a scaled down version of Naomi chimps. There's nothing to really worry about. Not for another few years at least. Then SNK can make another really obscure hardware change. :tickled: That'll be when Sammy starts executing it's stock weight in Sega, and really upping the anti in the arcade market. Not that there's much of one.

yeah i doubt this will be emulated, it's just a customized naomi, and naomi carts have not been emued yet. i doubt they could, cps3 isn't even emued yet and that's below a naomi.

mvs is just easy as sin cause it's REALLY old hardware. you don't see many "new" arcade jamma games getting emued nowadays, besides the neo, since they run on such powerful hardware now.

i wonder if PGS can be emued?

I think it'll be safe for a couple more years at least. The encryption is just going to be generally tougher to crack on newer systems.

I think it would be interesting if this change of hardware brought more developers to unemulated areas. I mean you figure people wanted to play Neo games enough to write an emulator and rampantly pirate them. I'm sure a lot of those very same people's efforts will come to the new hardware.

Hopefully some people will stop off and figure out Saturn and CPS3 emulation. I would love to be able to play Saturn games in higher resolution :)

It's going to be a while if at all, and before it's attractive to bootleggers it has to be attractive to operators which is not where the hardware is yet.

Well, I opened my cart and showed some pics to HPMAN. He says there's a "logic chip" inside that prevents it to be botlegged, but he says that HK pirates will break it soon... :oh_no:

I just hope it can hold for long... Come on, the Naomi has been around for many years, with really BIG money games on it, and it has never been bootlegged... OK, it has a lot of security measures (like GD roms and disc keys and what not), but not even the single cart games have been pirated. I really hope Sammy did their homework about this issue with the AW. A heavy 128 bits encryptation could hold for years.

You do not have to worry at all for it being emulated, til quite some years, I'm almost sure about that. It's bootlegs we should worry about.

Anyway it's true that so far there's almost not an interesting game for it... On March 18th, the first important game is coming: Guilty Gear Isuka, we'll see what happens with it.

CPS3 is deffinately top of my emulation wishlist, not because I want to see the system being ripped off, but because it will bring us a huge step closer to eliminating the suicide problem ala CPS2. Come on Raz, you know it makes sense ;)

well isn't AtomisWave made/owned by Sammy ?
if that's the case, then yeah ofcourse they want to use that system since they'd be making all the big money off of it...
whereas Naomi is owned by Sega so Sammy'd have to spread out the profits more if they went with that instead of their own hardware.

Except for the fact that Sammy now owns a majority Stock in Sega. So Sega acts just the way it's told to act in the arcades by Sammy. It's no longer a question of the most powerful board anymore. It's a question of corporate stock ownership.

Sammy won 22% of segas stock, they are the biggest SOLE stock owner (hence they own more of the company than anyone else). If there was to be a BIG shift in segas focus that required sharholder approval they would have to vote on it and Sammy MIGHT not get it's way.

Anyway it was my understanding that Sammy are using sega to gain a foothold in the arcade sector by having the bigggest competitor as an ally (in finintial terms).

Atomiswave = NAOMI 1 so it won't be cracked for a while yet.

Also remember Sega haven't "owned" themselves for ages, before Sammy it was CSK and before them it was MAtsushia (i think)
