For those who have played KOF 2003, which is the best now?

Does KOF 98 still reign supreme?

2003 looks beautiful.... but I have not had the chance to play it yet.

Love KOF '98, and to me '99 was only worth a damn on the Dreamcast with that bad ass anime intro... truth be known KOF 2002 is my favorite so far, '98 in 2nd and '96 in 3rd.

I couldn't disagree with this post any more, even if you had added "and Hitler rules" at the end. 99 blows, and 2k3 really blows. 98 is still the winner in my mind.

"Best" is subjective. It depends what you look for in a KOF. If you just like to look at the pretty backgrounds and listen to the nice music, maybe '99 would be the best. If you like to play your games, then it probably isn't. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I also don't think I've heard anyone who wasn't trying to sell one say that '03 was the best of the series, but I haven't played it enough to confirm one way or the other.

By far it has the highest level of competitive play I have ever seen for a KOF title...and that is all that matters.When you are challenging people for hours in the Arcade, you are not really going to be all that worried about sprites,music,backgrounds and other pathetic things that competitive KOF players could not care less about.

KOF 2003 is good, but KOF 2002 is better.

Speed and max-mode...enough said!

Actually, my personal favorite KOF up to 2K3 was 2001.

Perhaps once playing 2K3 I will change my mind. Perhaps I am but one of very few who think 2K1 is the best so far???
