I still say 3, hands down. 5 is a good game and all, but damn 3 is much better. Plus, 3 has the best final stage.

I like MS5 alot. I have played only MS1, X, 3, and 5.
So far X takes the cake followed by 5, then 1 and 3.

I don't see where MS3 is the best :oh_no:

Level 2 with the Zombies in 3 really pissed me off and totally lost my love for this game. Turning into a zombie every 5 seconds is repetive and annoing.

Metal Slug 3 is hands down the best of the series (though I have yet to get in my MS5), but my faves so far go like this:

METAL SLUG
METAL SLUG 3
METAL SLUG 2
METAL SLUG 4
METAL SLUG 5

... I don't count MSX because to me it's just "Revisited". After I have played MS5 that title might go up the list. While MS3 is without a doubt the best of the series, I still like plain ole' #1 the best.

I am going to have to go with 3 on this on. I haven't got a chance to play 5 yet, but the price at the neostore is starting to get tempting. I am thinking about either that or Matrimelee.

how are you playing the game? are you just jumping straight into the crowd zombies or something? if you stay back and fire, and then move on, you'll have no problem.

anyway, my vote has always and probably will always be with metal slug 3. it has the most variation and replay value thanks to the number of paths, weapons, and slugs. plus, that last level is the craziest level in the entire series with the horizontal shooter and vertical shooter sections. i haven't played metal slug 5 yet, but i hear it can be beaten in 30-45 mins. i'm sure it's 30-45 mins of pure joy but that makes the entire game only as long as metal slug 3's final level.

I thought 4 was decent since I didn't notice the rehashes (never played 1 or 2)... 5 was just shit.

I have only played 1, X,4, and the first 2 levels of 3.
Graphics go to slug 3 and X.
Best game is easily X.
1 is a little to easy, but it is still a blast to play. The bosses in 1 are just to darn easy. I can get to the last level without getting killed but the best I have done is beat the game on 4 lives.
It really doesnt matter which one is the best. Just dont listen to all the crap people say about 4.(they are stupid)

My personal favorite is X (fuck, I LOVE the train stage). It's like MS2 with MS3 weapons and gameplay IMO.

But, if you want more bang for your buck, MS3 does indeed take the cake. Tons of routes and so much varity in it....the first part of the last mission is really fun, but once you hit outer space, it gets really long, frustrating and repeative. I usually turn it off once I've beat the fake Morden.

MS1 feels old after playing MSX so much. MS4 is too short, but has it's merits (ship stage for one). Haven't played much of MS5 yet.

3 is last, don't really like it that much, although it's not bad by any means. 4 is not in there, since I never play it and don't like it at all.

What I dont like in MS2 is the slowdown. Huge detract from the game, no wonder why SNK released MSX.
