can someone give me some help here?

i want to use massystem joysticks on this supergun i'm about to build. so i will be using printer ports for my controller. buy i want to just use a 6 button controller to play neo games also. without having that gay massystems setup where they put the d button in the hard kick position.

i want mine set up

lp, mp, hp
lk, mk, hk

for neo i want

c,d, -
a,b, -

just like a neo cd controller and having the hk, and hp not in use.

could someone maybe explain how to do this a little for me and possibly find me the neo controller pinout. i tied to find it on gamesx.com but couldn't.

thanks!

Sorry, but unless you install some kind of switch, you won't be able to have the lay-out you want. The reason is that the MVS A,B,C buttons correspond to LP, MP and HP of, say, Street Fighter 2, repectively. Then, you can choose one of the three kick buttons to be D.

You are right, if he only wants it for MVS then he can use any lay-out he wants, but I understand he wants to use the same controller for MVS and 6-buton fighters such as the Capcom ones; so the lay-out he wanted is incompatible, unless he makes some extra job.

Yeah, you're right. if he wants to use it for anything but MVS that won't work without some work, if it can be done at all. You might be able to wire up 2 JAMMA harnesses, 1 for MVS and 1 for everything else.

finally , the gamesx site is working. i tried to go there for days and it didn't work. then this morning i got it to work and the link i wanted for the controller didn't work.

but what you all say makes sense. i didn't think it was possible either till someone told me it was. i guess i will just have to use the 2 slot and get neo controllers.

thanks!

This is making me insane. Those idiots have the worst uptime record I've ever seen. I just bitched them out hardcore, and if they don't solve the problem I'll be moving the server. Been with the same host since 1996 or so, and then they sold out. Nothing but trouble...

Or you could make 4 controller ports on your supergun....

2 for sf and 2 for neo.....

In my opinion, making 2 different JAMMA harness or 4 controller ports would solve the problem, but I still think it would just be easier to install a switch that changes the wiring configuration depending on its position.

Since there's no encoder to worry about all you have to do is install two joystick ports, each with a different pinout. Or make an adapting dongle for use with the PCB you'd play less often.

Definately, if you are building your own supergun from scratch, it shouldn't be that difficult.

Another solution would be a controller adapter; a controller cable extension that switches which button is wired to where on the supergun. That would probably be easier than installing a physical switch on the controller itself.

^^definitely another option...

but, IMO, an ON/ON switch that had 3 rows of 4 pins would make this a very easy job.

Right now, I am on board with the switch idea...

you can try mouser, partsexpress, or jameco....

What he means to say is "Exactly what NEOGEOman just said, but written a little more clearly." ;)

here's the switch, but there are others to choose from...... unfortunately all ranging between $12 and $15 each + shipping  this is a toggle, but you might want a rocker switch or whatever.....just get the 4pdt ON-ON (couldn't find a 4pst....but will an expert out there tell me if this is stil fine :) )

http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?han...ductid=372772&e_categoryid=84&e_pcodeid=61100

Also since there were no five poll switches, on your Neo layout the third button will also be "C" because you'll need that to be button 3 during your streetfighter games...

Also I lost my Mas systems controller pin layout..... so you'll have to figure that out on your own...... or ask around for it..... or search the forum... as I think I had posted it for somebody else.

Well... here's what you need to do......

neomas_controller_switch.jpg

I'm pretty sure this is right... but I'm sure somebody will check it over or critique it or whatever...... and if anyone has a better idea for a better layout please posted in here as it's all in the idea of helping somebody.
