Brian,

There is no such thing as a Zintrick boot as the game was never released. There will be no refund as the game was exactly as described and you dumped and released the rom to everyone.

I will not reveal the name of the member unless he/she does not respond or work with me on this.

Just a warning, pal.

Oh come on, do you really have proof or evidence (besides what someone might have told you) that this cart was at the Acme Expo?

If it is missing music during play, its no more legit than any other Zintrick floating around.

As the Ghostlop fiasco should indicate, Jeff is far from the only person in the world who can make an MVS cart.

I question this cart because some of the eproms on it were manufactured post 98 which is not possible for a 96 proto.

Quoting your own link about the ACME expo by Billy Pitt...

It is believed that SNK intended to release the game on MVS format because it was officially announced by SNK to be shown at the ACME arcade expo & trade show in 1996. I actually attended this show and can testify that it was not there.

So you got the cart from the ACME show that was never shown there...

Not really, somone else point this fact out to me yesturday, its not something I discovered myself. I was basically told that 'ST moved from white painting to engravec chips somewhere between 98 and 99'. As you can see on the pcb pics C1,C2,V1 and P1 are all engravec. I even dug out some EPROM's I have here and this same rule was confirmed also.

There is one way the seller can proove this is not the case and that would be to produce higher quality scans on the part side of the pcb so one can read the EPROM date stamps.

In a way I really hope this is an original proto because it would be nice to know one really does exist. The seller really should produce these better scans, Im sure hes more likley to sell the cart also if the EPROM dates tie in with 1996 so its in his interest.

Jmkurtz still has the cart, When I get it back, ill scan it again. Thanks for all your help guys!

Oh, and im not trying to sell off a boot as a real proto, ive been sending it off to everyone I know that can give me an opinion on the cart. I was gonna send it to trieu nex, but if there are chips from 98 on there, theres no need to, and I might be making a plane trip to the guy I bought it off of, if he doesnt cooperate, of course ;)

Thanks for the scans of those chips....

All I can tell you is indeed this cart is Fake/Boot. Like I mentioned this new scan confirms all those chips I mentioned before are manufactured in 1999 as the dates show. For example the C1 ROM has 9922 on it, that translates to 1999 week 22. The only 2 chips that could be real are the M1 and S1 as one is from 1993 and the other from 1991.

I think you really need to get in touch with the person you originally got the cart from as it is for sure not one made in 1996. Im sorry if this is bad news for you but Im afraid those ROMs proove it.

I said this in the last selling thread Neo Geo 2 posted before this one: Someone is selling MVS copies of Zintrick for under $300.00.

A few other members contacted me via PM saying they have also been offered the same game. I was offered this MVS version of Zintrick just a few days before Neo Geo 2 put it up for sale (from a different seller).

Looks to me that Neo Geo 2 was mislead when he bought his MVS game.

Do Prototype MVS games use Solder Bridges for Jumpers like the ones on Neo Geo 2's Zintrick boards?

Those jumpers looked like a home made conversion to me, Im just curious to know how these jumpers are compaired to a real MVS prototype.

Personally I think the soldering of chips is no way to determine if a game is legit or not. A hand soldering job can very easily be made to look like factory soldering, it just takes practice.

As i've always said, never trust a Neo-Geo "prototype" that doesn't have the official SNK prototype eeprom covers on the chips...
