Vas,

You may want to re-post this in the Tech Forums. In fact you can PM supergoose79. He is a great tech guy over in the UK that makes some killer superguns and consolized MVS boards.

I bought my gun from Raven games - its slightly more comprehensive features wise than the Uberia ones but a lot more expensive...

Its the same one that Arcade Heaven sell and I think you can get direct from the guy that makes them periodically on Ebay.

I was going to build one but:
1) I couldn't be bothered to wait to play my new MVS games.
2) I live near Raven games.

That said - the parts for the Raven games model are really simple. You can go to Maplins/Happ controls for most of it. Also - its put together in the most cost effective way (i.e. cheaply with no unnessessary (sp!) bits and pieces).

Anyway... Buy:
A box, some wire, a few buttons, a speaker and a couple of switches and a few knobs (for R/G/B) from anywhere (maplins/rs/etc).

Then buy a PSU and JAMMA connector (oh - my gun has arcade 1up and 2up buttons too) from Happ in the UK.

Wire it all together (theres a load of places to find out how).

Good luck - I reckon its a £50-60 project.

"hey Ill6 i live near raven how near are you"

I live in Norwood.

Vas,

Check out these sites:

http://web.njit.edu/~jal0737/
This is a US supergun, in the UK you don't need to worry about the JROK part, you wire directly to the SCART RGB pins and some of the commons. Take a look around for info on the SCART Pinouts.

I have some other links somewhere - I will try and find them and dig them out.

In simple terms though:
Get the pinouts for Jamma
Get the pinouts for Scart
Get the pinouts for a Neogeo Joystick (assuming you want to use these).

Wire it all togehter (with a PSU of course)!!

Personally I found the easiest way to get a good idea of exactly how to build yourself a supergun is to buy a fully wired jamma loom, arcade power supply and scart connector. Then print yourself a copy of the jamma pinout and start poking around. Took me five minutes to hook a pcb up and get a picture on my TV. RS sell the scart connector you'll need;

http://www1.rswww.com/

Just enter this stock number into their search box; 474-697. You might also find this handy;

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.wilks/scart.txt

Can't remember where I lifted that info from...

I have a question about the Uberia Minigun. What's the joystick of that? Do they provide you with one, or do you have to make one your own? It's cheap compared to other superguns in the market so I'm assuming that it doesn't come with it. Am I right? I don't want to get a supergun and not have a joystick to go with it.

The minigun uses standard Neo Geo Joysticks, can't get much better than that!

Only thing to consider on the Minigun is that if you want CPS2 or non Neo support you gotta let them know so they can do a custom job for you (its still pretty reasonable though). Personally I didb't want a gun that sat straight into the PCB... Personal taste.

On the other hand the Raven/Arcade Shock gnu uses its own pinouts for the sticks - they are still 15 pin but they use the pins differently to a Neo. In order to use neo sticks they offer to convert the joystick for you - this is easy to do but VERY GAY! Why mess up a great joystick when you can easily build a convertor wire (what I did).

I found this URL pretty useful... You don't actually need the strip board if you don't want, or the fuses - those bits are extras.

This was a good site but its gone now - he might have moved it to another URL I dunno... www.chads.arcade.btinternet.co.uk/
