The Best/Worst King of Fighters Characters

As the title states, who is the best/worst KoF characters. Heres my list.

Worst Characters

K9999 - Where do I begin? Everything about this guy is terrible. His name pure crap. Who was the crackhead that decided to named this character? Atleast his crappy name goes with his crappy design. Hes personally doesn't help him either. I hope he was killed in KoF 2K1

Foxy - See above

Kula Diamond - I don't think shes completey terrible. I dig the whole Anti-K thing but I don't like the way she gets treated like a child.

Choi Bounge - Ever wondered how Freddy Krueger will look as a midget?

Maxima - I know he sucked from the moment I saw him. First, he looks like a reject from the X-men movie. His moves suck and I can't tell if hes a cyborg or not.

Bao - I've said enough

At this point, Most of you probably hate me by now

I agree up to a point - im sure you will find alot of people in here that disagree with you ( for real)....but evryone is entitled to their own opinions.

LOL- Maxima does look like an X-men reject, something between a wolverine/ sabertooth type...lol anyways this topic has been brought up many times before, I understand that variety is important, but IMHO....
Maxima needs work........... he may have effective moves and all that jazz/technique, but he needs something more to make him an appealing character to use- a new design........

IMHO- Kevin .R from MOTW is a Far better design , better moves etc.-that guy should recruit Maxima (with a new design) and purpose for him, and start his own SWAT team for KOF.

In my opinion, what makes kof is the characters, and I love the characters that are unique. I'm going to seem very weird in my choices, but here goes:

Shingo
New Face Team
Lucky
Heavy D!
Seth
Ramon
Vanessa
Kyo
Iori

I know, I know. I have every black guy in the series in here (all three of them, how gay). But, they are so damn cool. I also love characters that are a little.... well, not cookie cutter. That's why I have New Face Team, Seth, Ramon (what a badass) and Vanessa in there. It's also obvious that I love boxers. heh

Worst characters? I cannot stand the following:

Ryo (his stance is teh gay, and yet, I love Takuma)
Choi
Chang (WTF were they thinking making these guys)
Hinako
Just about every KOF2k3 only char
Brian Battler

These are the only ones that I really can't stand. As a whole, KOF does well with character design. I'm not hog wild about the KOF99 team, minus K Dash.

She's a 14 year old created in a laboratory, with a robot for a babysitter. How did you expect her to be treated, really?

Maybe only Brian design wise-

the problem with Lucky, as well as with a few of the other characters that made it to KOF, like Maxima , he wasnt creative enough in design-

LUCKY- Fine he plays basketball- if they wanted to be decieving- he could have been wearin the " Basketball tearaway jumpsuit" and throws it off and reveals himself in a "Kickboxing Gi" or something to that matter....Joe Higashi could have used a Rival thing- just like the SAGAT/ADON rivalry of Alpha.....

BRIAN- well the footballl thing just outright dosent fit- but with a sliver of creative thinking, he could have been made a U.S olympic wrestler instead........ well not the best Idea for this character, it could have been more acceptable than the Football design.

oh well..........meh. :rolleyes:

I agree with Chang and Choi being the worst but I'd have to say that Chin was my worst character personally. I still haver seen drunken style portayed well in a 2d fighter yet.

Well, here's my list.

Best characters:

Ryuji Yamazaki - I've always been a fan of hsi ever since I saw fim in FF3. And the Sado-Maso is just too cool.

Vice - Classy dresses and a killer attitude make a good combo IMO.

Geese Howard - The badaas FF boss himself. Raising... Stooorrmm !!!!

Billy Kane - I was very happy to see him back in KOF '97, and his music rocks.

Joe Higashi - Everyone's favorite wacky Muey Thai Champ.

Worst characters:

Not many, but I've never been a fan of Ramon and K9999.
I don't know, for me they just don't have that certain thing that the others have.
Oh, and K9999 looks too much like Tetsuo from Akira IMO.

Yeah K9999 (Kfour 9)- was put in the game to pay homage to Tetsuo's creator, or something like that so ive heard/read. Still IMHO, dosent fit the KOF story well....... :rolleyes:

Hmmm, I don't know about the homage thing.
But I agree that he simply doesn't fit in with the KOF story.
To tell you the truth, I think that The Orochi storyline is more interesting that this whole NESTS thing.
But that' s just my opinion. :cool:

I haven't played 2K3 yet, but just looking at the sprite and design for Ash makes me cringe...the fact that he's on the new "hero" team puts him at the top of my hate list along with Bao
(sorry Bao fans)

At this point, Most of you probably hate me by now.

Bao's supposed to be a little girl; nothing like an unwilling gender change to wreak havoc with your personality. I'm not making a sexist remark, I just want to show...well, take a look at these early designs of Bao for yourself:

Regarding K(asi)9, his problem wasn't just that he was a rip-off. His problem was that he was such a crap-poor imitation of one of the most creatively designed characters ever that he actually made me dislike the awesome original concept he came from; that's how bad he is. It's like my hatred for him is so bountiful that it spills over to corrupt something else that deserves my respect, which makes me despise K9999 even more.

One of the greatest mysteries to gamerkind is why he uses the stance he does in KoF. He never did that in the Art of Fighting series. My arcade friends and I used to refer to his style as the Monkey Panic stance.

And for all of you that don't like Maxima and Brian Battler, check the unused Maxima character design on the right:

This character's name is Briaxima Robotler, who's a cyborg football player who was rejected from the X-Men for being a.) a non-mutant and b.) a loser. The veteran drill-sergeant guy on his left with the machine gun arm looks really cool, though.

I like most of the characters, so I'm not compiling a list. Onto the worst!

Chang & Choi: Retire them. Please, god, retire them. We're halfway there, at least.

Maxima & Whip: Boring, boring, boring.

Lucky & Brian: Jesus. What the hell, SNK? The real tragedy is that Heavy D!, a good character, was doomed to be removed because of his lousy team.

ALL the KoF2k+ new characters: They all suck. Every one of them. They're all either boring or really bad designs. At least the KoF-centric characters before this point were interesting. From 2000 on they're just terrible.

The worst characters in my opinion are:

Chang- A fat bald guy w/ a giant iron ball and chain that sounds retarded..

Choi- a midget freddy kreuger that makes sexual gestures? wonderfull..

Ramon- A mexican wrestler in KOF? Kinda cool, but it's just kinda eh..

Maxima
Whip- These 2 just don't have much in terms of originality and Maxima does look like an X-men reject

WTF was SNK thinking? Ash is what you get when you are in a rush and run out of Ideas. You get a crappy looking character that looks like they are made from spare parts. Take Kula, May Lee and K' and you get Ash the piece of trash.
