EEPLD question.

Electrically erasable programmable logic devices.

Whats the story ? I have a couple of boards with PAL-16V8 EEPLDs missing (Gunbird and Rastan Saga)
I see there is no program code for these chips in the mame rom dumps, are they pre-programmed, if so where do you find the program data and what programmers are recommended.

I have an eprom and I2C eeprom programmer but have had no experience withe these EEPLD devices.

Please help- I really would like to get Gunbird of the ground.

I guess the question is simply- whats the difference between an EEPROM and an EEPLD ?

a PAL's code is related to the electronics of the board, not the game data.. that's likely why there's no dumps of those in mame (also, they're usually read protected).. it'll be next to impossible to get that code.

CPS boards also have protected PALs and they're different for every game. If their broken or missing you're screwed...

Cosmicco have Gunbirds for $78 so I might pick one up in a couple of weeks when Im passing through there
