I have a Japanese Real bout mvs I got when I bought my phantom about 2 years ago. The cart casing is white with snkg on the side. Anyway the chips all look authentic except for the c1 has an eprom. The other oddity is half of the chips have the correct real bout code on them date number, etc. while the other half appear to have the numbers for fatal fury 3. What gives?

Also I have a puzzle de pon with eproms and world heroes chips. I had seen a post by neogeo2 saying that snk used world heroes chips to make pdps. Is this true? It certainly has its share of eproms on the boards.

If anyone wants pictures I can see what I can do.

Thanks.

Hey there Ralfakick! My Japanese copy is the same as you mention, except that it's in a black case. Heres the good word on my chips -

V3, P1, P2, C5 - C8 correct NGH - 095 (Real Bout)
V1, V2, C1 - C4 NGH - 069 (Fatal Fury 3)

All are un-branded chips, as in non toshiba or sharp, but no EPROMS are present.

Also my Kizuna JPN MVS cart is as the following -

P1, V2, V4, C3, C4, S1, M1 correct NGH 216 (Kizuna)
V1, V3, C1, C2, C5, C7, C8 NGH - 059 (Savage Reign)

The same issue is present with my World Heroes Perfect JPN MVS
and looks like this -

C1, C2, M1, S1, V1, V3, P1 correct NGH - 090 (World Heroes Perfect)
C3 - C8, V2 NGH - 064 (World Heroes 2 Jet)

With all these carts, there are no EPROMS present at all which makes it a lot harder to believe they are anything other than a cost cutting exercise to use up chip stock of the previous releases in the series. Can anyone confirm whether this is a common thing with some JPN releases?

Over to your Puzzle De Pon, I doubt theres much hope that its original with world heroes chips on the boards, but I spose stranger things have happened!!:eek_2:
