I was wondering how SS2 runs on the NGCD.Are theload times really that bad? Sorry for all the threads about NGCD, but I'm just thinking about grabbing one. I was gonna go all AES, but my wallet realized that going to college and work full time, as well as pay bills and rent isnt really going to work in my favor, so I might pick up the older titles on NGCD. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Load times are tolerable (at least for me they were) and it should tide you over till the time comes that you can pick up a Cart version, which is what I did...;)

also, the Arranged soundtrack is close enough to the original music that you'll enjoy it fully...for some reason I HATED the Arranged tracks for SS1, but it could be just me...

SSIV runs great on NGCD, so I assume SSII would run even better. Do not be scared off by the loading times. If you can deal with Playstation loading times, you can deal with NGCD loading times.

If you already have an AES system I would recommend getting SSII on that. The cart isn't much more than the CD, I got mine for $35 and in nm condition. The choice is up to you, but personaly SSII is one of my favorite games of all time for any system, and buying the aes cart (and the mvs cart) was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Well, that's a relief. Everybody around here seem to glorify it like "I was playing LB 2 and I went to a movie, and when I got back, the second round hadn't even finished loading yet!" Thanks for the input. You as well, alec

Really? I haven't played SS in years, so I can't wait for it. I'm still a little shifty eyes about NGCD. I was planning on getting SS 1-4 KOF 95-98 and Metal Slug 1 and 2. Maybe some others too if I can get some recommendations.

I'm leaning more towards AES, but do you think I should get all the KOF's on AES as well, or just the ones that didn't make it on NGCD?

this is most certainly true :)

It depends..... the loading times on KOF 96-99 are more intense. 97-99 are the worst... BUT 97 and 99 are my favorite KOF's on the Neo CD.

BUT you could have all the KOF's on the Neo CD NEW/US for the price of 1 and 1/2 KOF 97's on the AES. BAsically.... it will cost you a lot more on the AES.

You have to weigh.... price versus waiting on loads.

The only KOF's I've ever played on CD's have been on saturn and dreamcast, so I don't know about the neo cd loads, but the load times in between rounds seem to interupt the gameplay a bit. If your planning to get all of them, I would suggest getting at least one on cart.

Does the CD version of SS2 have noticeably better music and sound effects?

Yes the CD music is significantly better, i'd had the cd version for years beforee hearing the cartridge version and was horrified when i did, not that the cart music is particularly bad, its just the cd music is far and away more spectacular in comparrison.

The only KOF I recommend on the NGCD is 94 because it would load the entire teams. All the rest would have load times in between every single round and that got very annoying.

SS2 is great on CD. The music, like stated before, is fantastic. Also when its loading you are treated to some nice super deformed character animations. Its the little things that count! One of these days I'll get a CDZ.
