http://www.sgrepository.com

i put up a question i there last night but site is now down for some reason:cool:

Any way the question was about a jamma harness on e-bay its had a few extra's like controller's added a a coin box:buttrock: ...

i'll put up the link for please if u can tell me if this would be sutiable for a home made super gun build???

Here's the link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3275558342&category=575

lol, thanks for the props...but it's NGT, not that it matter :glee: ...but I am not at all a big name around either site.....I just happend to be the only one answering peoples question over there at the super gun repository in the last couple days. There are a ton of people here who know way more about all this stuff than I do on this site.

anyways, personally I would skip that set up right there, as you don't need the buttons attached or the coin thing. That stuff is really meant for a Cabinet.

IMO, just go to happs controlls web site and buy a 56 pin edge connector with solder terminals..... you can also pick up all of your controller parts there and they are the best parts around the arcade controllers!!! If you can find somebody closer to home, maybe on eBay or something that has these items... then go for it, but IMO you won't find better buttons and sticks than the ones sold by happs.

Also, for all the games that you want to play... you'll need to make some type of kick harness that you can switch the side that will connect to your games on and off because many of the games you listed have different types of sockets on the pcbs...

cps2 is just a 34 pin floppy drive connector on one end, but the MK boards are very different I believe...

anyways... I'm sure during the day somebody else from the neo-geo boards will help you soon enough :)

Ok thank's

i just though that would save me a little bit of time building the super gun.
iam going to build my own controll's anyway.

But i would have kept the coin tray keep the arcade feel :)

...i been looking around here and the info is out of this world :buttrock: i learnt a lot from u and the search button in a few hour's :D

I'have noticed that u need diffrent mother board's to play games:tickled: something i never thought .

i think thease can just be hooked up to the jamma harness could be wrong?

MVs <--- iam getting 1 definatly
atomiswave look's cool price isnt thow
:tickled:
Capcom Cps3
Capcom Cps2 i gotta get thease 2:make_fac:

Thank's BUDDY U are my super gun GURU

mvs one slots are jamma ready :) to the multi-slots need a slight adjustment to the audio, but you can get stereo sound... and believe me, when you've heard the stereo sound you won't want to go back to split mono. You can see how to make the jamma/mvs (mono/stereo) switch in my supergun layout thread that is also hear on the tech support board. It just calls for one more attenuation circuit and splitting and wire from the mono stereo output to the switch... it's actually very easy.

But then again... you'll need to wire pin 26 to a button to switch the games in the multi-slot...... and if you ever get atomiswave... you'll have to wire up your fifth button on your controller to that 26th pin....

Not a big deal... as you won't need to hit the games which button for a multi-slot when you have the atomiswave hooked up...

So it should work out fine if you want to get your system ready for the both of them....

Are you can say forget that multi-slots stuff and just make your supergun for JAMMA and then just buy a cheap one slot board would should work fine.

so what has stereo a single slot mvs or a multi slot.....

i was thinking of getting just a 2 slot mvs..i think any more than 2 slot's is over kill for a super gun:cool: but if the single slot has stereo i definatly get a 1 slot mvs:glee:

oh, and the 2 slot has an ON BOARD memory card reader!!! BIG PLUS IMO..

hey NGT!

i tried to go to that sgrepository site today and it was down. first time i tried to go there in months. i was scared it was shut down. good thing i found this thread! anyway, i am wanting badly to build my own supergun system. i know absolutely nothing about soldering and electronics. but i really want to give it a try.

what i want to do is make a controller port for 3 buttons so i can play my street fighter 2 hyper board and all other 2-3 button jamma boards. and i will just play mvs carts with a 2 slot motherboard so i can buy the mas neo geo joysticks.

i really have no desire to make my own controllers. also i really want a JROK in it.

what would you suggest i use to make the system in for a first timer?

can you lead me in the direction of somewhere that will give me step by step directions on how to build a system?

also it would have to have a parts section so i knew what to buy and what the names of the tools were i needed.

i really just want to see if i can actually build my first system. i am not looking for anything hard or fancy. i just want to see if i can do it before i try to make a really nice one.

why would you want 3 button controllers, when you could make 6 button ports or neo 4 button ports? IMO, make the ports with as many buttons as possible! Use the select button for coin insert and make the controller ports neo style but make the second 4 button as one for a kick harness and pin 2 button 5 and pin 10 button 6.......both pin 10 and 2 are left open in the neo sticks..

this way you can use neo cd pads, or mod other controllers with db-15's and use those...in the end, it just leaves you with more options down the line and 6 buttons for street fighter games ;)

I have a basic supergun layout on this board with items to get...

you should make the first one, with the stereo/mono switch so when your 2 slot you can get full stereo mvs sound!

BUT!!!! you will need to get a full size arcade powersupply! with +5v, +12v, and -5v.....with ground of course :)

also it would have to have a parts section so i knew what to buy and what the names of the tools were i needed.

i really just want to see if i can actually build my first system. i am not looking for anything hard or fancy. i just want to see if i can do it before i try to make a really nice one.

It's easy! You can do it :D

go to either partsexpress for parts and jameco for your 56 pin harness with solder point...and maybe your powersupply...

much info can be found in my supergun layout thread, as well as explenations for some of the stuff in the pics if you scroll down...

hope that helps!

off to bed.....early work tomarrow :(

so if i wanted to buy a 6 button controller could i set LP, MP, LK, MK, to ,C,D,A,B for neo games? But i would think that would have all my punches and kick all messed up for street fighter games. i would really like to use those mass sticks. it would be nice if i could get away with only buying 2 of them.

well, I was thinking that you could get the 6 button sticks and ask to have them wired with a neo style plug.

Your NEO layout would be:

ABC
++D

which I have heard is easy to get used to...

while the 6 button layout is still:

123
456

but you would have to ask them to hook up the 6 button layout to the neo style socket on the controllers, with button 5 going to pin 2 and button 6 going to the 10 pin.

then you would wire the supergun kick harness so the 4th button goes to pin 4 or 9 pin and 5 button goes to pin 2 and 6 goes to the 10 pin...

this way, when you have a neo system hooked up you get the abc and d from the harness, but the sf games don't use the 4th button from the harness, only 1,2 and 3 from the harness which means when you hit the 6th button on a sf game, you would be going only to the kick harness for strong kick, because the 25 pin on the jamma harness wouldn't be used for SF style games...as 4,5, and 6 are taken from the kick harenss.

wow........I hope that made any sense,lol......maybe someone who knows this stuff really well could run over this info above for me........as I am very tired.

oh, and I don't know if they would even build a 6 button stick like that.............sorry to get your hopes up.........as it's kinda all in theory :) but they might go for it......who knows.

but if they did, you would only need to buy the 2 sticks and could play neo games, 6 button games, 3 button games.....etc etc etc...

Hey NGT,

I have a couple of questions about the 5 PIN DIN wiring.

I'm using a Jameco sc200. Btw, is this the same one you used? On the back of it there is a small diagram as illustrated below.

5PINDINlayout.gif

Is this the layout of the front or the back of the 5 PIN DIN itself?

I also checked out your hand drawn picture (it's been very helpful). And it looks like it's setup like this diagram. Running from left to right with +5, +12, and the grounds. But is your 5 PIN DIN siting exactly like this in your setup (with the nub at the bottom)?

This is really throwing me off...
Thanks in advance for the help.

That is looking straight at the 5 pins that you solder the wires directly to, from the inside of your supergun!

I had to draw it straight like that.....but it's from left to right, just like in your picture and looking right at the 5 pins on the inside of your supergun......with the other post in the middle on the bottom.

hope that helps!

Edit: Oh, and FORGET ABOUT THOSE MIXED NUMBERS IN YOUR PICTURE!! I have no clue why they numbered them out of order... but follow the actual words 5v 12v G G G layout rolling over the top of the solder side of the 5 pin din socket.

on the powersupply they have them listed 1-5 and then there is that same picture on the actual power supply itself.

IMO, it's just to F' people up,lol...

and here's the thread.....

but I wish I still had brokens picture in there :(

on the subject of building superguns, is it worth it to wait for the
NTSC encoder from the Craze Arcade guy?

he talked about working through the prototypes, but if I buy one
of the first ones will it be like beta testing or something?

it's supposed to be cheaper than the JROk

and sounds more convenient.

it's the last component I need
