I have made this thread in answer to Tiptonium's reply in the AW Hatin' thread several pages back, but also to see where the overall community here that is supposedly so DIE-HARD really are at. I'm leaving for Mexico in an hour or so but will be back online later tomorrow. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but seriously, TIP had some good points and I believe I have some of my own.

That sounds like a great idea Tiptonium, and it's a bit more thought out than the "Professional Hobbyist Game Development Teams", but so far no one has given a shout out as to whether or not they'd even be interested in doing that, let alone going the full balls out "Sink or Swim" deal of actually forming a TRUE and RECOGNIZED company started by a consortium of "fans" who each in turn put their best talents into the further poliferation of dev & distirubiton of the MVS/AES market "Limited". Thus I'm all for it. I don't have a Pocket full of Gold or anything but by summer 2005 I'd be more than willing to drop $10,000 plus into something like this, if I actually knew there were more of you who would save up and do the same. Then after that with a DBA "Corporation" set up, and recognized by SNKP, we would have access to the MVS/AES cart production plants or whatever, instead of having to somehow make our own carts the way that one British Company was going to do some time ago with that game NEO SPARKS that never saw the light of day, and the cart looked a lot diffferent from standard MVS. ---With all that in place though, the "Crunch Time" would be in whether or not everyone with the talents would actually put in the time neccessary in which to program games, have meetings with one another, myself working with the programmers as the VCD (Visual Concept Designer) and "Writer" of three damn near complete desgin documents already etc. So if anyone wants to take this route seriously, then let's talk about it seriously and then set a goal to do as much within a year and a half's time. Because quite frankly I think it'll be ole' crazy Merc X99 and him having to hire out ppl here and there at a local level to get anything even remotely done in that sector, as I've seen as just in the real world, most ppl love to interact/play and talk the talk, but very few are willing to "Walk the walk" when daylight breaks and there's a thousand soldiers just over the horizon. *But again on that note, it would take forever because without the support/involvement of the very "Movement"/Community that already loves and plays the NEO, then even my best efforts would more than likely blow up in my face. It's like starting a Guerrilla War, it's only as successful as the amount of people involved and what levels of involvement they are willing to do... otherwise it's papers/rock/scissors and that's all she wrote.
#2> To whomever said "Don't be pissed off since you considered SNK dead in 2000". * I believe I have a right to be pissed off because while I didn't see SNKP as SNK, I never really had a problem with SNKP games. In fact I rather enjoyed all their efforts and didn't have the problems with METAL SLUG 4, and personally like KOF 2002 out of all of them so far even over '98. While I admit that the level of excellence wasn't up to par with old SNK, I actually was all for them growing into prefection on the NEO Hardware. Thus to me just when they were getting into the "Groove" SNKP then ups and runs for ATOMISWAVE, selling their IPs to SAMMY? Just seems like they didn't want to "Walk the Walk" anymore. Aggressive distribution, and taking the time to hone what you have keeps a knife sharp and deadly... it'll do it's job and people love it. Or you can sell out to the Jelly of the month club and/or hawk your wares on QVC.

Tiptonium said:If you really want to keep the Neo Geo going then find some investors, put a proposal together and offer to buy the rights from Playmore so that the original platform can be kept "alive." Sink a bunch of dollars into game development and hope for the best. I'm sure that they'd sell the rights for the right buy out price... or at lease license the rights... be prepared to pay a handsome ransom.
Personally, I think that we've had a good run Neo Geo wise. Anything past 2001 was a gift IMO.
