This is a serious thread, so be serious. And please refrain from the 'flamming' bulshit.

Yep, not long at all. I say 2 years TOPS. They may have gotten MOTW2 or LB3 out there but even then the demand wouldn't be that great throughout the arcade market. Arcade ops want flash, not quality these days. Who cares if a game is perfect as long as it looks nice and gets people to pump quarters in?

It honestly should have gone to 2005. that is it. That would have been an even 15 years of support. There were a deffinite 5 to 6 games that should have been released to end the neo's life cycle:

-LB3 (the code was there. No excuses)
-MOTW 2 (same as LB3)
-Ghost lop (if poochi got a MVS release this deserves one too)
-The new, original fighter that was anounced
-the dance rythm game that was announced
-a final, original. game to close out the neo. something like an SNK allstars fighting game oir something like that created soley to say good bye and thankyou to the fans.

after that the neo should have gotten the axe, no more half assed kof's, slugs or sam sho's.

Yea I say about two years tops as well. This really sucks because look at all the dedicated people within this forum and others that still eat, sleep and shit Neo Geo! I believe the Neo Geo community is stronger now than it has ever been. :mr_t:

Two years, then the SNK/P employees would either have quit or sliced their guts out on a silverplate in angst over their games getting bootlegged and emulated just after release.

I'd say -2

They should have stopped after Garou... it was marvelous.... techically...

but then we wouldnt have got svc chaos... so its debatable....

Im not sure of my stance on this one...

Well 3rd party games like DRM can still come out guys.

Anyway I'm kinda with Curt here, -3 would've been a good stopping place. Theoretically it could have games released forever, but logically its not going to happen

GOD DAMNED MOTHER FUCKING SHIT ASS COCKSUCKING BASTARDS!!! I DON'T WANNA HEAR ANOTHER STUPID FUCKING WORD ABOUT ..... oh yeah, he said no flaming.

Seriously, 2 years seems about right to me too. But who knows? If LB3 and MOTW came out and did those series justice, I bet it could've gone on indefinitely.

With some of the stuff I've got in mind that could've been done on the NEO, and knowing full well that SNKP was just getting into their groove... Realistically I believe the MVS could've been developed for and distributed till about 2006 or 2007, by spreading out the games and the fact that one solid game that would damn near make the hardware melt to run the games would have taken at least a year and a half to complete. Just as the later MEGA DRIVE games did things it wasn't supposed to do, so could the NEO:GEO. *I have a RGS game in design (picture Shock Troopers, scalling suddenly into a "Devastators" mode in Faux 3-D, and even occassionally going into NAM-1975 mode at times, having THREE distinct play mechanics you'd have to learn depending on the POV it took in the ensuing chaos). Something like this could have been done, with original characters etcetera, but it wasn't. Even on Hyper 16-Bit hardware people would say WTF! upon seeing it. *But on that note I'm going to try and get that particular RGS game made with anyone who might be interested, but I had to use that as an example of what SNKP was capable of, but either didn't think about it, or wanted to "walk the walk" and execute it.

...there's still more there than meets the eye, but it really is up to us die-hards now to keep it going.
