I'm the kind of person that doesn't collect the MVS or AES. I just get the ports. I just wanted to know which Neo*Geo game has gotten the worst port to a mainstream console so I won't buy the port of that game.

and the Genesis port was just as bad if not worse if I remember right...

Earthquake was cut from the Genesis port.

However the Genesis version had bigger sprites.

That was definitely a horrible port - and the sad part is that the playstation was a pretty capable machine.

Yeah, we used to call that one 'Samurai Slowdown'

The SNES version of Fatal Fury is also pretty unplayable. The controls are incredibly stiff, doing a qcf motion is next to impossible, the animation is jerky, the music sucks, and there's no line-jumping.

actually, that's how the neo version is too (minus the lack of line jumping). :p

Well, excluding the ports on the 16 bit system and focussing on the 32 bit ones:

sam sho 3 was bad in some areas, but metal slug X was bad in many. That port was so terrible it hurt. Both are on PS and both can't hold a candle to the originals.

Hey now, the Genesis port of SS was actually pretty impressive to me. Some of the best sound effects and music in any Genesis port was this. Had some good, crisp voice samples. I was impressed. Sure Earthquake was gone, but the BGs, more or less, were pretty good for such a little cart.

But the SNES one.... good god, it's not even the same game. I remember renting it and being all excited, and then I was like "WTF is this shit"

King of the Monsters was pure gold on SNES compared to it.

King of Fighters 99 on PlayStation.

Lacks so many animation frames it looks as if it had frame-skipping.

Apparently none of you have played World Heroes for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive.

Hands down the worst Neo port of all time, and possibly one of the worst arcade to home ports of all time. It's the software equivalent of shoving a turd into the cart slot.

I liked a lot Samurai Shodown on my Megadrive.
For me, the worst port I've played would be Samurai Shodown 3 on PSX. 4 was OK, though.

And the worst arcade port EVER is... Radikal Bikers on PSX. A good arcade game converted in a piece of shit.

I think the worst port of a NeoGeo game is VF: Gowcaizer on PSX. That shit was almost unplayable.

I don´t know why almost everyone here diss the SNES version of Samurai Shodown. I thought it was quite good. Sure, it wasn´t faithful to the original version, but I had lots of fun with it. It lacked a few things (mostly graphically, like the scaling), but I think it more than made up for it with Surround sound.

I´m not saying it´s better than the original, but it was a nice alternative for people who couldn´t afford a NeoGeo, and couldn´t find it on Arcades (my case). Also, I think it was much better than Genesis version; at least this one didn´t have a character missing...

LOL ... yeah he embellished that one just a tad. Shame on you for believing him - although as an impressionable youngster I probably would've done the same thing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Waku Waku 7 on the Saturn. Even with the RAM card, you have slowdown in the sound. You get the whiny high pitched squeal from over sampled (taking a 22 KHz sound to 44 Khz without anti-aliasing it) sounds. You get extremely discolored character sprites and backgrounds. You get 30+ seconds of load time between bouts (I'm talking between one round and the next). The sprites have a lot of other problems as well. The only saving grace on this flaming turd is the arranged soundtrack.

Samurai Shodown on both the Genesis and SNES, while still ports and still inferior, weren't anywhere near as bad as WW7 on the Saturn I think.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Fatal Fury 3 on the Saturn. Just... wow. When you do a side by side comparison of what the machines are capable of doing, the 16bit ports aren't bad at all. When you get into these 32bit ports that should be close to arcade perfect and you get a completely butchered game with tons of slowdown, you just want to cry.
