Best level 3 route in MS3?

So what route does everyone take in the third level of metal slug 3?

I usually go into the pipe that falls at the second torpedo tower at the begining of the level, however, I usually get swamped by guys and die somewhere after obtaining the Ostrich slug. Yes make fun of me if you want but i don't get to play this game too much even though i love it so.

Anyway i was just wondering if there is an easier route and which route will allow you to rescue the most pow's.

Best route is to destroy the armed walls and head right. I don't know if you get the most POWs, but you get some 30 grand bonus and if you finish the level being in the mech Slug, there are another 200000.

I usually take the first pipe down to where you get the Marine Slug if I want an easy, speedy route. I hardly ever take the top route because I can't handle the Ostrich Slug worth a crap, and I always lose at least 2 lives up there.

I think that the easiest route on this level is the Ostrich Slug route (second pipe whilst underwater). I'm sure it's not worth the most points, but I plan to complete the game and then go back to find hi score routes after...

I'm all about the Marine slug route. The music is catchy, and the angle of the shaft is perfect for the shooting manner of the slug and on normal you are given plenty of gas and bombs. The only time I take the second upper pipe is when I want to reminisce about metal slug 1.

I have my Metal Slug 3 now and have been playing it.
Wow! what a game..

I didn't finish the game yet.
I only had the chance to play it once today.

Please explain what the other paths are for?
Do they all end up in the same place? (1 ending)

Or are they Shortcuts?
Should I play through the game twice to see the other paths? ...or more?
Where do I find these extra paths.
It that what those portals are for?

I would say that mastering the top path is indeed the safest route to go. There are a lot of random things that could kill you if you go the other ways, and the mech isn't all that helpful, especially not compared to the laser you can get on the top way. I actually have to do some more work before I say for sure which path I like, but I can hardly see how I would endorse the other paths because of that super hard elevator section.

Remember, I'm not thinking in terms of "I can do it most of the time".... I'm thinking more like "I never die doing this". I'm saying that I think it would be easier to be 100% consistent on the top path.

Chris1 - the different routes all lead to the same boss, and sometimes to the same areas. You should definitely play it through all the paths to get the most out of the game. I'll come over sometime and be your guide!

it's all about the ostritch path simply because of the businessman you save at the end, who gives you a big lasergun. take that to the boss and blow his robot brains out.

The lasergun is actually not very good compared to the shotgun you´ll get by going any other way then the ostritch way. Just kepp away from the Heavy machinegun and such, you´ll get an shotgun a bit after you get the mech.

The 3:rd boss is the hardest in the game imho. I mostly get at least on death without the shotgun.

About 10 shots later the robot is dead. Same as i Slug1 on level 2 midboss and boss, skip the heavy machinegun and keep the shotgun, do not spend any bullets on soldiers!

I find the 4th level boss harder than the 3rd, anyway, I did go through the first pipe to get to the marineslug section, and then to the security cameras part, but I think this way is relatively hard so I've started going the ostrich route. I always lose ~2 lives here, but get a phat laser for the robot, which just kicks its ass.

As for level4, I used to go down, and then avoid the arabs by going down again, but now I go up, and avoid the mummies to get to the boss quickly. (albeit with no weapon

)

The marine slug route is the best for collecting points ( not Pows ), tons of points ( some are WELL HIDDEN ), and the boss is fucking easy with the Mech Slug.

When he attacks you, you just have to get out of the slug and then re-enter it again. beat the boss without damaging the slug and you'll get MORE POINTS than any other route. Yes, even if the other routes you can save more POW's. The Marine Slug route will always be the most exciting, and perhaps the most dificult.

The Ostrich Slug route is TOO EASY. glee

I find the ostrich route fkin hard.. I've only had slug3 for a month or two, and havent completed it on easy yet (ngh mode)

LOL!!

The key for your success there is to know how to manage the grenades. Once you know properly where to apply them, the route turns into a piece of cake! wink

I always die on the ostrrich slug route. Im getting better though. Last time i played i got farther then i ever had before dying. I always get hit by a grenade or someting that i dont see. i just need to pay more attention.

1st thing to do is to destroy imediatelly the firing towers. with your machine gun and about 3/4 grenades they won't last long and then you'll just have to anihilate all the soldiers using your heavy machine gun up and down.

OSTRISLUG REPRESENT!!

When Im playing ms3 seriously (want to beat it) I take this route. Once you get the ostrislug just run past the next two sets of guys and its a cinch after that especially with the laser. Plus I like this route cause Im not the biggest fan of naval combat. wink

I suck so much at MS3 all I can say is well done to anyone who is good at it. I've never seen the Ostrich slug. Is there any benefit in getting the elephant on level 2?

I'm pretty handy at MS2 though.

using the elephant-slug give you huge bonuses and also you can save tons of other prisoners

i use the ostri-slug as well - mainly because it saves going past the level where you go up in elevators with snipers and laser cameras

that level sucks big balls

Well, I hace to say that the camera zone is my fav in that game along with the desert stage.

Those are the most challenging zone of the game, all the rest is pure piece 'of Cake.

And don't forget you can get more points from the camera zone. If you beat the boss inside the Mech-Slug, you'll earn more 300000pts. wink

Today I beat the ice-cave without losing one life the first time (IMO the hardest part close to the elephant slug with all the yetis).

I never saw the ostrich slug in MS3... Where is it hidden?
