so is this right? but with 9pin as +5

and how do I got the 2 sync's out of the one? or how do I hook that part up?

and what about the clock thing? and the ddc dat?

1 Red
2 Green
3 Blue
4 No Connect
5 Ground
6 Ground
7 Ground
8 Ground
9 No Connect
10 Ground
11 No Connect
12 DDC DAT
13 Horizontal Synchronization
14 Vertical Synchronization
15 DDC Clock

this one looks a bit different...no clock or ddc dat and I am assuming the "video return" grounds all stay grounds?

but could you let me in on how to do the SYNC?

1Red Video
2Green Video
3Blue Video
4
5Ground
6Red Return (ground)
7Green Return (ground)
8Blue Return (ground)
9
10Sync Return (ground)
11
12
13Horizontal Sync
14Vertical Sync
15

How do I get the horizontal and vertical sync out of the single sync of the rgb?

thanks!

The return grounds are common afaik.
You could split the H & V syncs with a sync seperator like the LM1881.

I'm not exactly sure what "afaik" means? Are these just grounds?

As for the sync........THANKS!!! :D

afaik "as far as I know", just a figure of speach commonly used on forums and chat. Like imho "in my honest opinion"

Im certain its common ground.

Cool,lol... I've never seen that before.....

Will this work... http://www.jameco.com/cgi-bin/ncomm...earchResult.d2w/report?sort=BKW&search=LM1881

also is the composite sync out the horizontal sync out?

There are a few things that need to be hooked up to this chip and I'm not too sure about what they are could you possibly explain some stuff to me?

The diagram is on the second page of this pdf

http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdDS/107140.pdf

And it's pretty confusing... a specially on the pins that need some sort of resister or something....

Could you possibly explain this to me?

The 0.01uf should pass the higher freq horizontal sync pulses and attenuate the vertical sync- it seems to work on the AD encoders when running both h & v sync.

ok...... I know that you are helping me a lot here and I really appreciate, and I kinda see what you are talking about......

but..... I do have a few newbie questions....

Would you mind breaking this down for me....in newbie terms?

what's a "uf" ?
what is the 680 k
and how exactly am I supposed to hook this stuff up? word for word?
are pin 4 and pin 6 ground? and what exactly is hooked up and how? on pin six.....

is that just a resistor or something?

when the line goes like this ---------||--------- what exactly is goes on? just a 0.01 or 0.1 uf(whatever this is) in the wire like an attenuation curcuit in a supergun?

if so, that's easy enough....

but pin 6 looks a bit confusing!

Sorry if this is thought of as common knowledge... but it's new to me.....

So please don't use many of abbreviations if you would help me out on this?

also...... great picture!!! :D

uF is simply a unit of capacitance, micro Farad. One millionth of a Farad.

680K is a 680 K Ohm resistor. 680 000 ohms.

Pin 4 is grounded, pin six connects to ground via the capacitor and resistor which are in parallel.

The 0.01 and 0.1 uF are just different value capacitors.

Im not able to guide you through hooking it up, you will need some very basic soldering skills for this.

With a simple circuit like this where you are only using 5 pins on the device there is no real need to mount the IC on a vero board, just hard wire it physicaly as shown in the piccy.

Good luck.

That is exactly what I needed right there! Just a simple information of what goes where that tells me what the different things are!

This sounds like it should be very easy!

Again... thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

I went down to my parts store to buy the resistor and capacitors....

... and I didn't know what kind to get.

For the resistor I got the 680k ...... but I didn't know what watts to get......

So I got all three but I would appreciate you letting me know which one to use

I have the 1w, 1/2w, and 1/4w

As for the capacitors there were five or six kinds... so I got two of each so I wouldn't have to make the trip down there again

I have the .01 uf trw and the .01 uf 1000v

I also have the .1 uf 250v radial and the .1 uf 250v that look like these little white boxes and the .1 uf 16v axial...... that looks like a very miniature propane tank,lol....

They had others of this type like 100v and 150v that were just this little yellow blob on the end of two inch long pins....

I know I should have asked this stuff before but I had no idea there were so many types of capacitors....

My computer parts store had a so isle dedicated only to capacitors and that is both sides of te isle,lol...

Any help in narrowing this down would be appreciated

thanks!

has anyone actually done this?

If so... which capacitors did you use? And what was the voltage?

The lowest one I have is 16v but I'm sure there are low or ones that looks like they have little orangeish yellow blobs on one end and two long pins coming out of it? I would guess that those are lower....... but I'm not sure how low is too low.....

Any help would be appreciated

In a big fat thank you goes out to ttooddddyy

well, I still can't get my AW's vga to come in on any monitor or tv that had a black screen when plugged in.......

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did have one cart monitor that had a picture, but flipping verticaly!

so, I noticed that the amp I had didn't work right for a stronger signal, but.....the AW pinout only puts out a comp sync from pin 13....

which goes to horizontal sync on a vga plug.....

to get to the point.....this sync split WORKED!!!!!!!!

when I split it and had the vert running through pin 14, the picture stayed still!!!! a little off to the side on a monitor that doesn't have a screen adjust on it :spock: only brightness and color... :spock: yeah, it's old!

but, I don't freakin care!! I finally got the signal to come through!!!

It may not be 32 inches of glory, but it dam sure works and looks quite nice I might add :D

JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS to ttooddddyy!!!!!!!!
