Funny how the term 'Drawn and Quartered' is a sort of 'good ole time' sort of word for punishment. Like "Tally HO! That rascal should be drawn and quartered!"
Funny- given that it was an institution in the old world- torture, disembowelment, dismemberment and the public display of the corpse-parts at different corners of the city.
Mark Fuhrman- eat your heart out.
Bobak said:I'm not going to go see it, but I had a friend complaining about paying $8.00... so I just told him he could "read the book".
It would be funny if the movie credits ended with:
"Read the novelization by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John et al"
"Read the further adventures of Jesus in the Book of Mormon"
No, not because I am a religious fanatic. But rather, I hear that it is very violent, and graphic. I don't know if I can sit through 2 hours of that!

Usually anti-English, now in all likelihood antisemitic. What the hell does that guy think he is? A goddamn preacher? Pffft
@neobuyer
Torturing criminals is a very fine tradition that should be reinstated. We spaniards were particularly adept at it...as I have said in the past, 'tis a shame that the Inquisition does no longer exist.

but his right-wing views are strictly in the theological sense: he's a member of a Catholic splinter group that doesn't accept Vatican II (and thus doesn't accept the Papal edict absolving the Jews) and also does not think the Pope is inspired by God (which is a pretty fundamental things to most Catholics). Another Vatican II fact that explains the movie: Vatican II is where the Papacy gave permission for churches to hold church in languages other than Latin -so it's not a surprise that Mr. Gibson wanted his version in languages of the time period (some of which haven't been spoken in centuries, like Aramiac).
As for the movie, anyone paying attention to the "controversy" since the beginning knows that he planted it. His first interview about the movie, before it was ever shown to anybody, said that it was garnering controversy. I don't blame him, movie producers (notably Harvey Weinstein at Mirimax) have done that for years: the whole notion of "all publicity is good publicity." Remember: If you have a low budget movie like "the Passion", you really want to save promotion costs by creating a "controversy" that will get news channels to hope all over it and give you free press.
Wait... does that mean all of this boils down the money? Yes, silly![]()
