Japanese Help

”üƒŠƒ…￾[ƒWƒ‡ƒ“ƒRƒŒƒNƒVƒ‡ƒ“

Okay...so here's the thing...the first kanji and the katakana seems to form a combo word like "beautillusion" since the first kanji is "beauty, or pretty" and the second part is "ryuushon" = "llusion".

Obviously the second katakana word is collection.

So how would you say this in romaji?

Well as a native English speaker I've found the best way to transmit the Japanese language to other non-Japanese speakers is through romaji...

so in this instance it would be Bi-llusion Collection

In the grander scheme I use romaji at my website (click the banner in my sig) and that's where this will end up.

Well, where I stop using romaji is with katakana phrases.

korekushon is collection. Collection is the intent of the katakana...might as well take it to its next logical step.

People who say Dracula as Dorekura for example...it's a waste. The whole point of katakana is to fit in foreign words....might as well use the foreign words that they are trying to transmit.

Maybe its just a pet peeve of mine...I hate seeing a "japanese" word in romaji and stress out trying to figure out what it is only to find out it is an English word with extra vowels stuck in there.

Heh, tell me about it.

Back when I used to smoke, the brand I smoked was called 'Mild Seven Light'. It was written on the pack in the Roman alphabet, not katakana.

But if I went into a store and asked for 'Mild Seven Light' they wouldn't understand me.

I'd have to say 'Mairudo Seben Raito'.
