To my suprise, I heard a clatter at my door, and waiting for me was my Demoish Fist Atomiswave kit! I feverishly opened it, to discover a very groovy looking little system. Looks almost like a home console. I mean, I've seen pics of it, but it's a different experience to actually hold it.

It's built with quality, and has a very study design. I've only played about 30 min of Demolish Fist, but so far I am very impressed! Can't wait to see it through VGA!

I'll put up a full review on Demolish Fist later tonight or tomorrow. I simpy can't wait to see what SNKP pulls out of this little bugger! Welcome to your new home SNKP!:D

I played DM a few times in the arcade, its a quality beat em up! I really liked the super bar and the overall old school feel. Unfortunately the game didnt do so well over here, it was only in my arcade for about 3 months. Please post your impressions as soon as you can, also can you give us impressions on the atomiswave system. Thanks!

Are you playing it in a cab or on a supergun? just curious.

I'm using a Sigma AV7000 and 6000. Finest quality SG's I have ever used!

I agree with you Demolish fist is pretty but lacks depth. The enemies are all identical minus a few bosses and the levels are 2d based kind of like Resident evil. The gameplay rocks and it feels old school but is only good a few times through. My top Atomiswave game is Knights Of Valour which is the first KICK ass game on the system I think.

Thats cool about the Atomis wave... but just remember this is A NEO GEO forum

I think alot more of us will be interested in it when the SNKP ports start coming...

I still find the whole Atomiswave thing quite sad... and I don't want to think about buying an atomiswave for awhile...

Can you use a Neo Controller in that controller port on the front of the AW Mobo? I also have a Sigma...but it isn't wired for NG Control Pads.

If I put one of these babies in my MVS cab, would I be able to use all four buttons on it? Would I get a high res image with the monitor that's there, or would it be dumbed down somehow? Also, I assume there would be no sound, correct (like CPS2)? Any ports, or headphone jack on the unit itself?

On the contrary

Atomiswave works perfect in any Neo Geo Cab unlike Cps2 I get sound out of 4 US neo cabs so far

Neo 4 slot US
Neo 6 Slof US
Neo 2 Slot US
Neo 1 Slot US

I suspect it will work fine on a Japanese Candy as well

These were all dedicated US ORIGINAL NEO GEO CABS TESTED WITH also you can use Sega Stv,,Taito F3 and PGM as well thats the only known PCBS I know you can you working FULLY with a US Neo Geo Cabinet.

The monitor uses a diferent frequency/refresh rate.
Might possibly damage it depending on the resolution.

I think that all standard monitors ( recent non-vga ones ) can support at least 640x480@60Hz.

Check your cab monitor specs beforehand. I wouldn't like to hear from you about a MVS cab monitor damaged. Would be sad. Those cabs are too sweet.

If that's true, I'm about ready to blow a load. But what about the monitor? Atrophyed says it may not work and even damage it? Anyone know for sure... not saying that Atrophyed, you didn't, but.... how would I find out? My monitor has no manual with it or anything. Damn, somebody help!

Ok, here are some questions answered:

1. The ports on the front are for VGA, and interlinking between 2 AW units. You can set the REZ at 15 (normal REZ), and 31 (High REZ for the VGA cabel).

2. Yes, it will work fine in a Neo Cab. The 4th button is no problem here. You will need a VGA cabel and monitor for High REZ though.

3. There are stereo ports in the front, otherwise you will get MONO from the JAMMA harness.

Yes, I know this is a Neo-Geo board. This post has an inferential relationship to the NEO, and SNK.

So, if I use "normal res" will it be 320X240 (or whatever)... wouldn't all the high res games like Guilty Gear X look like shit? I don't understand... could you spell it out for me a bit? Sorry.

Are all games high res, or some are low.... ?

Demolish fist is only a three button game...... but other atomiswave games are five buttons so the fifth button will be on the same pin as the game switch for your multislot cab.

I have that kit and I really enjoy it!... but I am a big beat-em-up fan so I could be bias.....

I also really love The Guardian on the pgm system..... and will eventually get one of the knights of Velour on the atomiswave..

And I can't wait for some good 2d fighting games :)

Well, after reading up some in the tech forum, I hear that my cab may not only use medium res, but will auto switch on the newer models....

th_after.jpg

Just a shot to show which I have. So, 640x480 is medium res, isn't it? Shouldn't this Atomiswave be medium res.... only? Info please, as I'm getting even closer to buying one now, knowing what I know.

EDIT: you say it's got a low switch and a high switch... what about medium? I'm confused, now.

It's actually Medium REZ (640X480), and High REZ. You need to use the VGA output for high REZ though. There is a dip on the front for selecting which you need.

Hang on, I'm getting confused here. A standard TV is only 320X200, if I'm not mistaken, so that would mean that you MUST indeed have an VGA monitor to use the AW mobo, right?

Hmmm...I might connect it to my 17" TFT monitor but...meh. Getting a high-res cab might be the best option, but that would be super-duper expensive...shame.

Really? But aren't console games supposed to be displayed at a resolution of 320X200? And if, they are 720X576, can they display a medium res image?
