I have a MV 1b with two bad ram chips.
W24258S-70LE
Anybody know where I can pick these up?? I'm going to probably be interesting in changing the Bios in the future. A member here already did it right??? Anybody have the pics??

Are you sure about that part number? I may be wrong but the ram on a MV-1B should be UM62256EM-70LL.
Anyway it was Arakon who replaced the SMD bios with a regular one.

Yes. The positions are listed on this board.
Ram3 and 4 are bad.
1st I get blocks and then the screen turns completely purple.

ram3 and 4 are in the backup area right? I have a scan of the PCB and the numbers are the ones I posted...

Yes,they are in the backup area.
I read somewhere that there are two different revisions of the MV 1B.
I'm thinking a Zif socket would be the right way to go with the BIos.

Maybe you have a MV-1C? (same as in the neostore)
Because I also have a scan of that and it does have those Winbond chips you say. However ram2 and 4 are in the backup area but ram3 is on solder side. If you search with google, there are some IC distributor that carry those but I don't know if you can order just a couple...
As for the bios, you can replace it and put the new one on a socket but you'll have to do major hardwiring and the result will be quite a mess...

Appreciate that. Can someone repair this unit and mod the bios for me?? Save me the rouble.. I mean,the unit is very lightweight.
