WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!

God, I remember that being posted on Fark. If there's one thing you can always count on, it's doomsayers predicting doom, and then no doom occuring. When I want to find out what's really going on in the world, the first place I go is to 25 year old law school graduates who have recently passed the California bar exam.

Anyhoo, the main reason I'm in the "anyone but Bush" camp is his horrendous environmental policies, not for the environment "itself" (the "environment" doesn't care what the Hell we do to it, the world will still be here when we're all gone) but because the changes we cause end up killing hundreds of billions of other creatures needlessly.

Yes, we are… :D It’s good that you have come to terms with your mortality; so many people have trouble with that.

Now there's an objective source of information ...

Not objective, sure. Do you think something like this is really worth taking a chance on? You have to pretty certain to ignore the possibility.

Yes. You can't stop the ship and act on every statement that a far left or far right whacko makes.

it seems like Republicans have a history of not giving a shit about the environment (i.e. Regan, Bush, and now Bush pt 2)

I think the destruction of the planet as we know it elevates it from the usual hubub or an extinct snail here or gun control there.

that's interesting.
here in america especially, we live in excess and as
a result create waste at an exponential rate.
i wouldn't expect anyone to take action though.
if something like that does happen which I'm thinking would
due to population growth and larger spending as a world,
then it happens. back to the good old days from back where there
was no electricity and cars. it's almost unfathomable to me admitably.
it's a shame things like solar power never really took off.

o and I was talking about the content from

The actual destruction of the planet and the destruction of the planet as forecasted by greenpeace are two very different things.

I don't know.... its pretty freaky during the summer time when you hear the weather alarm system on the radio (normally for severe thunderstorms) and they state:
"Low Ozone warning today. Small childrea, elderly, people with breathing problems, etc, etc, should stay in doors.... or not be outside for too long.'

Oddly enough.. I have only heard that once... and it was never put on the radio again..... and I bet it was political reasons that it never was put on the radio again.

It was pretty freaky stuff.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Fort Wayne, Indiana..... its not like we are heavy industry or anything like that.

Absolutely, except the only people not predicting massive climate change and acompanying catastrophe are US energy interests and their hangers on.

it's a shame that everyone has to rely on the government on this.
since the government, like the state, is reactionary.
any decisions made is never pre-emptive.
even all this home land security and anti terrorism related programming
is post 9-11.
i feel sad that we will have to lose europe for the world to react
to this growing problem
;(
bye to all my friends in the UK and europe
:( :( :(

Supposedly the report is a hypothetical worse case scenario.

Read this, http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?t=40448.

Thank You sir.

I'm not trying to say that we don't need to do something. I definitely think we need to have legislation which punishes corporate polluters severely, and I think the government should fund programs which develop alternate energy sources.

However, the imminent destruction of the earth, and other doomsday theories really don't do anything but create more nutty people.
