I think Sony will dominate even more when this handheld comes out, they say the graphics will be something between Dreamcast and Playstation 2, I can't wait:drool_2:

It looks like crap. The mockups look uncomfortable. It'll probably break if you drop it 1 foot.

In terms of hardware, the Zodiac will be cooler.

Yeah you may be right, but I also heard that there will be some changes made to it before it ships out this fall!

Personally the idea of the PSP makes me sick. It'll probably no doubt spell the end for 2-D games overall outside of anything done on the ATOMISWAVE hardware in the almost extinct Arcade scene. Personally I'd like to take a shit on the damn R&D model of this system as SONY can lick the ca ca from my asshole. Those sons of bitches ruin everything by turning everyone into massive mainstream cheese eating dick monkeys that buy shit.

BAH! :blow_top:

I know next to nothing about Sony's handheld. All I know is that I won't be paying 300 bucks to get some whored out mass market garbage featuring 700 billion polygons with shit gameplay.

If it gets some great games and come down to about 150$, I'll check it out.

Yeah, before it actually happened, i always thought that video games going mainstream would just give us more of the great games that got me into them in the first place. Live and learn, I guess :).

I will not buy a portable that costs $199 and about $40 for each game.. Ill probably wait for a price drop or a worth while rpg. I think psp will mainstream portable gaming and more shitty games will come out. I'm not looking forward to the PSP at all... its just another PS2 to me... Where are the good games when you need them? heh

I am really looking forward to it.

People here should realize that they should hate SCEA, and not Sony.

Exactly. The days of lining up for the newest console/game are over for me. THere are enough incredible games out there that i think it's better to just chill and see what happens. If some titles really interest me, the price is right, and reliability isn't an issue, i'd consider getting a PSP. Otherwise, it's a couple hundred bucks better spent on SNK products...

Hate is a strong word for what i feel towards SCEA - scorn would probably be more accurate in my case - but i'm not too fond of Sony jp either. Sony is a large consumer electronics corporation that sees gaming as another revenue stream, not their lifeblood. Granted, these other companies we all seem to love aren't mom-and-pop operations, but at least an SNK or Nintendo is concentrating on games and gaming first.

Sony busts into a scene like this with more money and better marketing, and all of the sudden other companies are struggling to keep up. I love some of my PS1/PS2 games, but technically speaking, they all could have been released on different hardware and still have been the same good games.

...also, everything i have ever purchased bearing the Sony label has failed me in some way (except, ironically, my PS1).

I think it's missed the point. 3D games need a large screen to be 'read' properly. if the resolution is not there you simply can't undertstand the polygons. The textures and lighting become hugely confusing and the whole thing degenerates into a confusing visual sludge.

Low resolution lets 2D work very well though, and if I know Sony they'll be pushing the 3D aspect of it. I think the next generation of handhelds might have a screen able to do 3D well, but just now I don't think the screen technology is up to the processor technology.

I think I'll enjoy it for what it is, and if it follows GameBoy's footsteps by not having region lockout, I won't have to worry as much about SCEA's crap decisions.

The only thing that could worry me about it would be if it pressures Nintendo to give up supporting 2D handheld gaming and develop it's own 3D handheld that couldn't be backwards compatable. GBA is about the last bastion of new 2D gaming. I'd hate to lose it when Sony inevitably starts eating Nintendo's market share.

Nintendo has said they are developing a backwardly compatible GBA successor. (which is also not the DS)

I hope it crashes and burns. GBA is the last place you can get quality 2d gaming anymore, Sony should stay in home consoles. Yeah, I'm giving in to a bit of elitism here, but I don't care. You can only push so far before I say it's too much.

I think it will live or die depending on its battery life.

Well, thinking back to the days of the Gameboy and Gamegear, the GG was technically superior by a long way, but had piss-poor battery life and was therefore useless as a 'true' portable. (same goes for the Lynx). On the other hand, the GB could keep going for 10 hours+ on a set of rechargeable batteries, and even longer if you used Duracell's.

I guess it also depends on how many of the PS2's 'casual gamers' actually want to buy a seprerate portable gaming device. I fugure most of them will be happy doing their gaming on a mobile phone...........

I heard that the PSP will have a rechargeable battery so it'd last for a decent amount of time.

I hate Sony products, especially their Playstation line of consoles. That said, I have no intention of buying, much less any interest in the PSP.

Rechargable battery doesn't mean it will have a long battery life...rechargable just means that, the batter is rechargable. The drain on the battery relies on the power consumption of the unit and the more moving parts, the more power it needs.
