I definitely wouldn't say perfect - but I've been either learning or teaching Japanese for ages now (going on 13 years). 1kyuu was a requirement for me for grad school at the time. If you can pass 2kyuu, you'll probably be fine on the exam. It's the same test, but requires 70% to pass, as opposed to 60% for 2kyuu, or at least, that was the deal when I took it.

I've been studying Japanese for about 4 1/2 years. I have no idea as to what my level of proficiency is. Its really more of a hobby than anything else. That said : I can read/write an average of about 500 kanji, have hiragana and katakana memorized, but my grammar kinda sucks. I can make simple sentences and conjugations, but I start to stumble more as I try to make it more complex.

I stopped studying a few years ago when I started my Master's Degree, so I can't read or write very well.

I'm otherwise pretty fluent. RBJake tells me that I speak with a Northern Japanese accent.

Speaking of which RBJake can read, write, and speak really well.

Tsukaesugi thanks for the props! Your japanese is amazing!! Poor Big Bruno had to listen to us all drunk shouting at each other in Japanese. That was funny.

I seem to recall the last time we played guilty gear....
I think I killed your baiken pretty badly
he he he he, We will battle soon? (sunday??)

I think a teach japanese thread would be a great idea, I think between all of us we could offer a lot. Especially if some of us got on voice chat!! I wanna learn some Osaka ben, Ive been living in tokyo and Ive only had kantou area speakers as teachers.

I've been studying the language on and off for the past couple of years. It's only been in the last two quarters at the University of Cincinnati that I've been taking it more seriously. My current major is Asian Studies, but I'm seriously thinking about changing it to Japanese. My hopes are to do translating work or teaching English as a second language over there.

Anyway, a Japanese teaching thread would be great! Definetly appreciated by people like me :)

Watashi wa baka na Amerika jin desu.

I'd say that statements is true of my Japanese language profiency as of right now, but from '95-'98 it would have been good enough to get around any major metropolis in Japan, get something to Eat, get laid etc. At the time I was Buddhist and my "adopted Brother" (as I refer to him as: Takashi Hara) was teaching me to speak the language. I'd bring over the Charles Berltiz tapes and books on "How to speak Japanese" and then he'd break down the FORMAL style into what he reffered to as "Everyday Speak". Said it would seem rude at a dinner party the type of Japanese I was learning to speak, but for every day things no one would care and that they'd more or less be tickled that a Gaijin was "trying". Unfortunately after he went back to Japan without a word to anyone upon his Graduation at UTSA here in Texas... I never had anyone to practice with, and now I'm back to speaking Charles Berlitz FORMAL Nihon and getting it re-approved by Ron Livingston... ahem... errr.. I mean Beelzebubble (sorry man that photo you posted of yourself just reminds me of Livingston in Office Space) on the boards apparently. I'd be up for taking Japanese lessons again though. Until then....

Taksan Baka tara ne'! is what I'll keep telling myself. (And I just spell it phonetically I'm not always right with the romanji of it's actual wording).

Maybe someone here can help me out then. I know a little Japanese, but not enough.

Can someone tell me what the 10,000 yen modification to the sword is? I'm under the impression it's the addition of the blood gutter, but I'm not entirely sure:

Yahoo Japan Auction

If you can help ASAP that would be GREAT!
