I understand it was a really cheap game even when it first came out. Is it a good Arcade > Hucard conversion?

well it shows quite well the potential of the arcade card... to enjoy it though you should get a 6 buttons pad.

I know with just a 2 button pad it'll be clumsy having to press (what button is it to change punch and kick pressure levels? select or run?)

it's pretty much a self contained arcade card game, since the hu bulges out on the top a ton.

the sound wasnt as good as the snes, but i don't know how the graphics rate. i used to have it on my duo-rx with the 6 button pad, and it was fun. i never had the damn tap tho, so it was boring one player. i remember more slowdown on the PCE version tho, like when you'd knock people down etc. but it's probably the best fighter on the system next to the snk arcade ports.

i don't know how it plays on the 2 button pad, you probably just get fierce punch and kick.

Fuck yeah that was good! One of the better "Ports" out there man. If you have a ACD Card pick that title up, you won't be too dissapointed at all. In fact I remember it even getting MAD PROPS in an old 1992 or 1993 edition of EGM Magazine too.

sf2ce is a hucard tho? you don't need an arcade card. you can play it on the express too.

Come on!!!

WE ALL KNOW that the Snes version doesn't even have the same character samples as the arcade version...

The PCE/MD ones can sound metallic, but at least they are taken from the arcade ones.

Excellent, excellent conversion only hindered by the somewhat metallic sounding music and music. Get a 6 buttoner, and you're set

The only known SF2 for the PC Engine is Champion Edition.
So, you can compare it to the Mega Drive version or if you want with the Snes "Turbo" Version.

The Snes version is a BIG NAH for me. Where's the real intro ? :)

Ho~ no need of arcade card ? didn t remember that :)

I ve sold my pcengine stuff looooooong ago (almost given, it was not the "collector era" introduced by internet auction sites)￾@i just kept my CDs.

For controls it was designed for 6 buttons, but you can map them in the options iirc. so you can map HK and HP to the I and II buttons...

nn...odd... it was full screen on my TV and i can remember that because my SNES version was not (direct conversion 60Hz NTSC->50Hz PAL sux... small black bars top and bottom).

I still can t believe it was not using the Arcade card ^^ the sprites are huge, there are a lot of good sounds, great music, rasterized-linescroll, animated backgrounds ... wow to the ones responsible of the port.

WTF are you lot on acid??

It was a 20megabit Hucard, it has nothing to do with the AC card...

CHEAP!??

It is now, but when i got it new on release, it was £65, plus £35 for the awsome Avenue Pad 6 = £100 to play it proper, and o man was i in heaven...

Before the only home version i played was the abysmal pal world worrior on snes, despite missing some line scrolls, and at times dodgy, though great, music, it is fantastic........my favourite SF2 because it was "my" version, its the one i shelled the £££ out for while others were importing the SFC version.

Best 16bit (esque) version IMO, and i AM biased:D

Regardless of it all...this is all I need

SF2SCE.JPG

Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting in one nice package, not too slow in gameplay, not too shabby

'shrooms in fact ;)

nha seriously my i still can t believe was an idiom not a fact. I know it didn t use it (i checked) but it s a great technical achievement. SNK CDs used it and since it s near in quality i am wowed :) I got this one late though, couldn t find it in my hometown before long (japanese import).

What do y'all mean metallic voice samples? Mean like all sharp and blood-curdling?

Another question, is this just straight Champion Edition or does it have SF2 Turbo included like the SNES and Genesis?

Straight If I ain't wrong. Played it ages ago.

But who cares ? It was the SF2 everybody wanted !
At least, I think Turbo not as appealing as CE.

I only used to play Turbo In 2-Players mode. CE for me.
