We NEED a newbie forum.

We have been getting a very large amount of the usual threads from the recent amount of new fans that have come here (with the recent attention places like gamespot and others have put on the neo with thier articles) asking questions like:

- whats the diff between U.S. and jap carts.

- will my jap carts play in a U.S. system

- where can I get a neo cab.

Etc.

we truly need a forum (be it short term or long term) where newbies can ask these questions as they are gumming up the rest of the forums. There should be a nice little faq thread that should be posted tat the top as well with some answers to common newbie questions. I will help out in any way that I can.
Please let me know what you all think. Thanks.

what's with the emphasis on post count?? Some of the biggest spammers are newbies, it would take no time at all to get out of such a room.

We do not need a newbie forum. I don't think its that bad. A sticky thread containing the FAQ in general discussion would be ok, "ATTN: All new forum members please read"

How about locking them into a forum that is hidden to people with over 5 posts.

In that forum, make sticky threads explaining things.

I would create a new account and declare myself "King of The N00bs" , they could make me lunch and such. Great Idea glad I thought of it .

although this space would have usually been reserved to some thought out (or thoughtless) witty (or dimwitted) comment, I happen to think a "welcome center" of some sort would be good for newbies to read to answer some basic questions.

In fact, we could have Jorge (too short) moderate it

Mods here need to just start locking more threads. If a question's been answered just lock that shit, send a message.

Same goes for all the repeat topics in New/Rumors.

Like GAMEFAQS for wannabe neophytes. I gotta agree. I just joined recently and i didn't know the basics but i think i've generally caught on. A crash course on the basics would b a good step towards less Repeat threads and general stupid threads like "VF4 EVOLUTION for Dreamcast" in News and Rumors.

Yeah it is bothersome when you see 3 threads a week asking for the differences in systems and such. We need some kind of sticky with those questions answered or a newbie forum.

The only thing I hate about the term "newbie" is that because you are new to a site does not make you new to the site's basis.

Use me for example. I've owned a NGH, NGCD in the past and owned a mvs cab for over 8 yrs and have been steadily playing the neo in one form of another ever since Magician Lord came out. I'm over 30 yrs old and only recently started surfing the net.

That's only an opinion from a newbie anyhow so who cares, Right?

I agree. Call it Neo-Boot Camp.

That sounds cool. Maybe I could become Gunnery Sgt. Merc X99 and whip those dudes into like minded pro militant, NEO:GEO playing, "thicky thick" loving droogs... typing a mile a minute and always controversial. Brain wash em' to hand over their Credit Cards to NeoStore, and become the Gamer's Revolutionaries the scene is going to need in about 2 years time.
