Is it possible to get like, a VB plugin that will enhance the page for mobile devices? It's fun to surf on a pocket pc, but not the way it's set up... Just a suggestin.

That's a great idea. I'd love to be able to surf on my phone's WAP browser. The mobile phone forum Howardchui.com has a mobile version which is pretty sweet.

I used to have that T-Mobile sidekick and surfed the net with that, was pretty sweet.

OK, I have an idea on how to make this work better. Browsing the forums on my PPC (even overclocked and alloting lotsa' ram with no pictures) is VERY tedious, taking MINUTES to load a page that is basically text. And then you have to scroll like crazy when reading a thread because of the way the boxes for the posts and names, etc are set up.

BUT! The printer friendly version loads in mere seconds, and fits the Pocket IE browser window perfectly. Unfortunately, to click that option the whole page has to load, and one could easily read the thread by then. Perhaps, if the forums detect a version of Pocket Internet Explorer accessing it, when you click a thread it will display the printer-friendly version automatically? Even better, have the whole forum optimized for pocket IE (the main page, replying, etc).

For an idea of how a good PDA optomized forum works, look at pocketmatrix.com 's forums on a Pocket PC as opposed to a PC- they kinda strip it down but it runs very fast.

Bump. OK this is how ridiculous (sp?) this is.

First: a lot of people who browse from mobile devices (including me) browse with images off. PROBLEM: you see the little "floatind description" in place of the image. When looking at threads, the "non-pics" take up lots of room because of the text.

Second: I tried something. I overclocked my PPC from 200 to 300 mhz, left only pocket IE (and the OC'ing program) open, disabled pictures, and tried to read a thread with not even a full page of posts on it.

It took around five minutes, and it's on a BROADBAND (well through my PC) connection.

After it was done, I loaded up the printer-friendly version.

That took about thirty seconds.

C'mon, chant with me! MOBILE OPTIMIZED! MOBILE OPTIMIZED!

VGR's WAP Beta

Off topic...but :p

And obviously you need a WAP browser to access it...so clicking is kinda pointless.
