My first Half Ironman Triathlon in 2 weeks!!!

Hi everyone. This is Carl, a not-so-talkative member of these forums since 2001.

I recently became affiliated with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and volunteered to participate in an Olympic Distance triathlon. Not only did I do that, I also volunteered to raise money!! What was I thinking!!!

So I'm asking all of you for your support, and maybe even a few bucks. I won't laugh at how little you think your ..umm.. donation is, because it all adds up, and my goal is to raise $7,500. So all of you with an extra grand laying around might want to use it for this, especially since it's tax deducible.

Here's my web site for more info:
My Team In Training/The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Web page

Also, please feel free to send my web link to your family and friends. If you know/knew someone affected with leukemia, let me know and I will put their name on a bracelet to be worn on the big day, May 1st.

Please visit my site, even if to just look at my training journal, pictures of a few honorees affected with leukemia within Silicon Valley, or just to see my progress in fundraising.

Again, even a dollar will help since it adds up.
Wish me luck...
Carl

P.S. If there are any companies that would like get their company logo on our team jerseys, please ask me about the Corporate Sponsorship!

Aww, c'mon guys!! :crying: I can't even get a dollar? Tough crowd, tough crowd. It's not like I'm going to use it to buy a Metal Slug home cart, none of this money goes to me. Plus it's tax deductable.

Okay, how about moral support?
Carl

I'm glad I joined this organization (TnT/LLS) because it's more rewarding than just a triathlon itself. You actually meet leukemia patients that you are raising money for, and they are there during the race to give you that cup of water/gatorade. Chances are I will to the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon in the second half of the year.
The course is the Jamba Juice Wildflower Triathlon. I've looked at the maps with altitude and it looks really tough. Biking starts off (on road) on a steep incline for a mile. Good thing is that the run ends on a mile decline:D

-Lost Basura, what area are you from? I'm sure there is a Team In Training event near you. We are actually getting coached by Olympic medalists and the winner of the XTerra Challenge. All I do is train, fundraise, and race and they supply the rest. My actual training log is on that site as well as photos of some of my honorees. I'm terrible at running, but I'm getting better at it.
Thank you for the support!:buttrock:

I just thought that I would share with everyone that I just passed the 200 mile mark!!
That's right boys and girls, 200 miles without an engine!
200 miles land, sea, and air (running is a mid-air activity, right?)

Also, I've gotten near $1,000 in generous donations!

Thank you to those who have sponsoerd and supported me!

Well, I just did something really crazy.

Originally I was signed up to do the 31.93 mile Olympic distance triathlon. Not too bad, probably would have taken me a few hours.
But, I had a bad day and was really upset. So in anger I went to the office and changed my entry to the Half Ironman which is just over 70 miles!!
Normally when I'm pissed off, I go and buy something, but I was a little short on cash at the time.
Oh well, It's hopefully at most 7 hours out of my life. Then afterwards I can get a pity massage from the ladies!:buttrock:
