Neo Geo went under AGAIN?

I just received my new Official Xbox Magazine and there was statement saying that SNK went under AGAIN and the Sammy Corp is buying the intellectual properties. Can anyone confirm this? I hope its not true.

It's rumored that Sammy will be buying SNKPs IPs but SNKP didn't go under.

Getting acquired by another company doesn't mean the bought company went under. There's been no business reporting of SNK-P going under.

I never consider insider info from a 3rd party...esp if that party is a competitor in many ways like M$'s Xbox. Double-check that article and then weigh your common sense against that and you'll prolly end up w/ a more realistic answer. :cool:

So I don't get chewed out for making bogus statements please read: On page 16 of the March 04 Official Xbox Magazine it says in the rumor mole section "And is Sammy really gobbling up all the intellectual properties left by the again-defunct SNK? If so, does this mean that oldschool favorites like Samurai Spirits or Metal Slug might end up on Xbox?" The rumor being that possible games for Xbox through Sammy, but they are STATING that SNK is Defunct.

Well SNK IS defunct. SNK Playmore isnt.

And anyway, you know better. SNK NeoGeo USA Consumer has already announced that they will be publishing MS3 and SVC on Xbox.

Just because Sammy bought Sega and is licensing KOF, doesnt mean they are buying SNKP at this moment.

No kidding the original SNK is defunct and Playmore isn't. Don't you think almighty Microsoft knows that when they made this statement? Maybe they know something we don't yet. Just wanted to let Neo Geo people know that this statement has been made. Don't shoot the messenger!

Well the rumour isn't a new one, it is at least 7-8 months old. Last month Trieu from SNK-Capcom.com made another post about this rumour and explained it in some detail. Truth be told though, even your magazine, who placed said article in the RUMOUR MOLE section, agrees that it is just a rumour and un-comfirmed. However, once so many people start rumouring, you have to wonder if it isn't true... and I think we will see a merger or a buy out of sorts in the next few months.

What this will mean for the future of SNKP (a lot of times IPs retain a seperate identity even if owned by a new company) the Neo Geo, or the games is still yet to be seen.

I had been unable to access n-g.com for a couple of weeks (probably when this rumour appeared at s-c.com) ..... I'm not into reading a 5+ pages thread, so can anyone simply answer this for me:

any idea if there are gonna be MVS releases after KOF2003 ?(aside from SSV:special)

I thought it's already annouced that all future SNK games will be on atmoswave, but after reading posts from here and there, I really got confused.

KOF 2004, 2005 and 2006 are already confirmed to be MVS games. If you add the rumours, Garou 2 and SVC2 too.

The only SNKP-related game announced for the AW-Net is KOFSammy, but we all assume more games will come later.

it seems to me that SNKP is shifting to atmoswave .... I don't think we will see any more MVS stuff.
