I'm not asking if you own weapons or are for the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, I'm asking overall what is your fave weapon? Be it in movies just looking "Bad Ass" or actually having some type of involvement with them and liking one over another for whatever your reasons.

...or has the world gone soft and we must now talk about which hair stylist to visit for our Meterosexual needs? *If your particular fave is not listed here, then what is it?

**My pick for Assault Rifles would be the Kalishnikov AK-47 (and not it's smaller caliber variant) and for SMGs while I love the MP-5 my heart is still with the Sterling L2-A3.

EDIT: Typo in the Poll, the "Steyer Aug" is from Austria not Germany.

M-1 Garand baby! Doesn't get much better then this. What a totally badass gun, i'd love to own one some day.

I'm also a fan of the other WW2 era weapons, BAR, Thompson, etc.

I'd be lying if i said it didn't like the AK-47. Every armed group (and their mothers!) in the world has one of these for a reason, although i still hold the M 16 in higher regard.

Bah, only 1 year + 2 months until i can legally purchase a handgun.

Yes the M-1 Garand is indeed a serious MOFO! *I had to sell mine sometime ago along with my AES system and 36 games for Hospital bills. :( It was a "Winchester" version used during the war and had some history to it, so I got 1,200 bucks for it. Great rifle, I just never cared for the odd 8-round En Block "Stripper Clip" feeding system. The M-14's detatchable 20 round box magazine made a bit more sense to me, though ITALY did build a variation of the M-1 with the detachable box magazine after WWII, though I forget the particular designation of that battle rifle. *I can see why a lot of people like the M-16 as it's no doubt a good rifle, but to me it just doesn't have neither the durablity nor the use-of-ease of the Kalishnikov AK-47 which he Mikhail Kalishnikov used the German MP-44 as inspiration on and vastly improved.

On the SMG note, the MP-5 in all it's variants has proven to be the AK-47 of SMGs and is generally used by most Urban S.D.U. and/or SWAT TEAMS as well as military SPEC OPS. **I however, fell in love with the Sterling L2-A3 while visiting one of my dad's war buddies back in 1989. It's side mounted clip looks cool and it's a good SMG, being used rather well by the Brits in WWII. Though for jumping out of a plane the French MAT-49 is the best choice as the straight magazine folds forward being out of the way. The French Army and Leigonnaires used them extensively in Africa campagins and during the INDO-CHINA War before America got involved in the renamed "Vietnam".

...Glad to see you're going to excersize your right to buy and keep and bear arms amigo! Go buy something the minute you become of legal age. Get something that'll piss off the more liberal aspect of your family. ;)

What a tough question!
I'll have to go with :
Grendel P-30
G3A3
F2000
MP5
G18

And that rifle you were speaking of, is the Italian BM 59 Beretta rifle, wich is an inproved design of the M1 Garand.

Has to be the MP-40 Schmeisser (if thats the right spelling, cana be arsed to check.

Just one thing though, the Sterling was more of a 1960's model,it was the Sten that we used in WWII.

AK47 just screams out "I'm a man."

Rugged, cheap quality there. Not that streamlined, shiny bullshit on other guns.

Still, I voted for mp5 just because of its awesome versatility.

I think there is something interesting about the 8 round clip. Looking back it seems silly now, but i think the quirkiness of the gun makes it appealing to me.

basically, if it's not made by Heckler & Koch, it's crap.

My gun of choice is the PSG-1. It wasn't listed unfortunately.

It's difficult to say which is my favourite gun, since I'm quite a gun-fanboy. If I have to choose from those on the list, I'd go for the MG42. A truly superb machinegun. Shame that they are slightly illegal, uh? :D

As for assault weapons NOT on the list, I'd go for the Spanish "CETME" Assault Riffle, which regretfully is now considered obsolete by my government, despite its acclaimed quality.

Merc, I noticed you said you favor the AK-47 and not its smaller caliber brethren, yet you listed AK-47 and AK-74 on the same column for the vote. I have two AK-47s. :glee:

Also, Steyr is Austrian, not German. (In an only semi-related note, there was an article in the paper a few years ago commenting how the Chinese government tried to buy one millions Steyr AUGs, but the Austrian government nixed the deal.

Lovecraft0110, you could own an MG42 if you lived in the right state and filed the proper paperwork.

That's not really a machine gun or an assault rifle, but it is pretty fuckin' sweet. Extremely tight shot groups for a semi-auto.

And I'm totally with you on the H & K thing - they make great stuff. Really nice handguns too - Glock schmock.

Well, I'd first need to live in the right COUNTRY :p

But...can you really own a working MG42 in the US? With AUTOMATIC fire? :eek_2: I mean, even if that's disabled somehow, I assume that there would me some way of implementing it back again, right?

Yeah, you'd have to file for a class III liscense I believe. I knew a guy that had one in my hometown, and although I never got a chance to shoot it I did see a video of the guy target practicing with it. Watermelons, beware :D!

Oops, yes, right country, then right state. ;)

Yes, you can own a working MG42 with fully automatic firing capability. Some states you can't, but you can in Alaska. If it had been converted to semi-automatic (one bullet fired per pull of the trigger) it would be illegal to convert it back, unless proper papers were filed.

I am friends with a Class III FFL dealer, but he doesn't limit what he sells to fully automatic weapons, he sells everything. You can also go up to his place, pay for ammunition, and fire his machine guns at the range on his property.

Yes you can - if you're willing to go through the proper channels.

The funny thing is that, although people make a huge hoopla about fully automatic weapons, they very rarely get used in any sort of violent crime. I think there were a couple of kooks in CA (where else? :D) that modified a couple of ak's and shot up some police cars, but other than that I can't remember any other incidents.

Yes, the weapons they had were either illegally obtained or modified. Truth is, no legally owned fully automatic weapon in the U.S. has ever been used in a crime, at least the last time I checked.
