Only guessing from the name, is it maybe a Famicom to NES converter or NES to Famicom converter?

It says "Family convertor". I didn't see the word Famicon on any of the cartridges. I don't know shite when it comes to old systems, sorry for posting a stupid question like this :( :emb:

Famicom = FAMIily COMputer.

It looks like a NES to SNES converter, basically to play Famicom games on a Super Famicom system, much like the Master System to Genesis converter.

ClassicMode is correct. That is a Famicom to NES converter made by HoneyBee (so you can play that game on a NES). Though it is harder to find the HoneyBee than other brands they aren't worth all that much. Also you have a pirated famicom 50 in 1 cart. Though not often seen in any sort of box it isn't worth much to anyone except someone that collects grey market famicom multicarts.

Hope that's enough info... I'm tired of typing =)

Sometimes it's better to ask dumb questions rather than making dumb mistakes.

I agree with samuraiX ....

You can also open up a few of the older NES (Heavy)carts(Excitebike/Stack-Up) and find a Famicom to NES converter ..

Though it won't have a plastic cover..

I've have 3 converters
A Gold HoneyBee.
A White HoneyBee (like yours) & a NTDEC 72-60 converter..

I also have a heavy Excitebike NES cart with a converter in it.
If you'd like to see what that looks like ClassicMode1985..

I paid a decent price for the Gold HoneyBee many years ago.
but the others were real cheap..

Like samuraiX Says..
"they aren't worth all that much" and usually only cost a few bucks one Ebay..

.......................................
Nice to have though..:)

My HoneyBee isn't white, it's gold. I just noticed that the box shows a white one, but the actual unit is gold. I put it up on eBay, with a .99 starting price. It's already at $8 :D .

true true chris1, I have quite a few carts that have the converters in them. I know excitebike, gyromite and a bunch of the other early official NES titles. They just slapped the Famicom cart "chips" into the converter attached to a 72-pin adaptor piece and there you have your early NES carts. Fancy!

Sorry Jorge, eBay removed my auction because it was violating their TOS. I didn't know that selling convertors was against their policy. Oh well. :crying:

Rename it, you can sneak around that stupid TOS, there was one on Ebay last week (Except it was a NES to Famicom)

What's that thing doing in your attic? I'm guessing a relative also plays games, because I'm aware of every piece of gaming stuff I own. I know people already told you what it is, but your best bet is to find out who it actually belongs to and see how much they paid for it, and mark your price accordingly.

There's some gamer I know, he's like 45-50 years old. He gave us a box full of NES and SNES games a while back, my brother looked through it, didn't see anything that interested him, so he put it in the attic. I went in there a few days ago and looked through it, and found this HoneyBee convertor with the two bootleg games. I'm still not really sure how much it's worth, but I just got an email from an eBay member. He says he'll give me $40 plus shipping for it :eek_2: .

Now that I got a Famicom system clone (with 8 games built into it) , I don't think I need my FC>NES converters anymore.

But I'm feelin those multicarts.
Question for those that have those, what are y'all's favorite games on it?

I have a 110-in-1 and a 52-in-1. My faves have to be:
>Star Force (which I already got 4 of, 2 on the multicarts, 1 legit Famicom version, and the US version from Tecmo)

>PD Fighting (very shocking indeed. It's actually the first "Hokuto no Ken" game that never made it to America but was named PD Fighting with no title screen graphic to get around legal issues. Basically, the Fist of the North Star game we got on the NES that was from the long dead company "Taxan" is part 2 in JPN.

>Shooting Block - actually "Quarth", Konami's hybrid of shooter and puzzle.

>Sky Destroyer

>Field Combat - it's so fun being the UFO, capturing soldiers that try to shoot it down and abusing them sexually (pun intended)

Seriously though, y'all have heard about Famicom games that have special sound chips to make the music and sound fx better than the primitive blips and bleeps? Since the American NES won't let the sound pass, these converters are useless. Akumajo Densetsu/Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse-J's (which has Konami's VRC6) a prime example. If you tried to play this on your NES converter, youll get the blandest music ever, cuz the special chip (which the NES hardware is washing out) is what makes the melody. That's why when I got a Famicom game that used Namco's special sound chip, I got a FC clone and my converters are collecting dust.

Wow....I found another gold HoneyBee convertor, it was connected to a 256 in 1 cart  . Too bad I can't put it on eBay, I don't feel like getting banned for 6 months.
