Well,
****If you havent finished the series there may be spoilers****

I just finished disc 6 of the series and man that was so depressing. I have not seen the movie, but since there is one, does this mean that Spike is not dead or is this a mission previous to"Real Folk Blues', that was never told?? Every episode had a uplifting thing to take away from it, but these last 4 episodes just depressed the shit out of me. All the characters all got so crazy with depression, they didnt know wether they were comming or going, if fact, now that I think about it, it almost seemed like a rushed way to end the series. Does the manga go further than this or does the anime follow the manga pretty accuratly? I loved just about every episode from this series(besides the trucker episode) and maybe I just need to watch these last 4 again, but man, what a crapy way to end a great series.

I felt the ending was extremely appropriate given the nature of the series. The show never really had a beginning, it just sort of...started.

The movie takes place between episode 22 'Cowboy Funk and 23 'Brain Scratch'.

What I mean by 'rushed' is that they all just crack at once. All the characters apeared to be strong and confident then just....crack. I understand that each episode was its own entity(hehe tity), but the characters never seemed as unstable as they did in those last episodes. Does the movie get into character development at all, or is it just like 1 long episode?

And the Manga is just like a continuation of the stories in the Anime. They are just like "episodes" that were never made with no real plot tying them altogether. It's like an unending journey type thing.

The last time I read, the creator had NO plans for any more animation for CB, but plans on continuing the Manga adventures of the crew.

The movie is like one long episode.

You want character development? Don't read the Manga either.

I just want to learn about the characters pasts and the internal struggles that they have had. I just feal like it would ad a lot to the show.....so ya I guess that is character dev. I do love the show how it is, just the last 4 episodes would have ment more if I felt the characters pain a little more.

Didn't like the trucker episode? Heavy Metal Queen? Personally, that's one of my favorites. To each his own. "You're just a messed-up loser, Spike"

Probably my favorite ending in anime ever!! The last two episodes absolutely floored me. Anyone else notice the resemblence between Setsuna and Vicious?

Sorry to tell you, but nothing available now will help in regards to character development like you are looking for. It just doesn't exist.

There ARE some Anime guides for it, I think, from Tokyo Pop, perhaps they would give you something you are looking for? I'm not sure, as I don't own them.

No character development?

You did watch all of the Jet flashback episodes, the Faye flashback episodes and the Spike syndicate ones right?

Pretty much lays down the backstory and sets up the final few episodes.
