I remember the thread from last week about the people here who talked about having some form of a wacky OCD and I think I found the holy fucking grail of OCD people.

All I can say is holy shit! Get her help and sell that house down to the floors. Get her a minimulist (spelling?) lifestyle.

EDIT: I helped one of my best friends move with his dad and brother into their grandmother's house after she lost her foot (long story). Her house was nearly identical to this. Only difference is she had 25-30 years on her "collecting". Took us at least 10 trips to the landfull in a full sized truck overflowing. There could have been a Picasso in there, I dunno. I don't want to know either.

I was just speechless when I first read through all that. I still am. It's near impossible to describe.

After emptying a house slightly worse than that one I know first hand there's only one way to clean it. Throw it all away. Don't sell everything and hope to turn profits. It'd take 10 years. Get a dumpster and start moving. Also throw old washers/dryers out the rear of a fast moving truck on the side of a highway and hope you don't get caught right Cole?

Oh my GOD!!!

Umm this opened up some memories I had hoped to suppress. I guess now's a good a time as ever to share them.

In 8th grade, I carpooled with this 7th grader, a local Rabbi's daughter. Their mother, who had been ill a very large part of her life, died about a month before school started that year. I didn't know what to expect the first day I went to their house. Maybe a table in the entryway with a white cloth covering it with some pictues and a candle lit, I dunno.

OH GOD. "TV News Crazy" kinda describes the house. At the beginning of the year even, there was clutter. Stuff on the stairs, in the car, okay, well the woman of the house was out, perhaps she did the cleaning. Well obviously no one else did it anymore.

I'd walk in, see the dining room filled with random trinkets. NES carts, boxes of clothes, piles of clothes needing to be washed, bags of trash... oh jeez. The living room, well typically there'd be a smelly pile of clothes on one side, a guitar with two strings (the others long since broke) on it, a pile of trash just THERE, a buncha huge bookcases with books and randomness on it, just SITTING there. Not even in boxes for the most part. The house smelled terrible. Using the bathroom was bad, there was junk in there too.

The car was equally bad. Just, random stuff cluttering it. LITERALLY, you would have to make a little area where you'd put your feet that was clear when you sit down, because if you didn't you were sitting on garbage. The van was even worse.

I don't want to go into further detail, I can't even begin to. I haven't seen that house in two years and I don't even want to think of what it is now....

I saw that last week and seriously had trouble reading through the thread. I would start selling shit or burn that house to the ground.

Holy shit. Hope she gets treatment and turns things around before the place becomes a true health hazard (rats running freely, feces and rotting garbage laying everywhere)

That's really sad she can't even stop to realize she's buying boxes of stuff she doesn't even open, or that her fucking shower is packed to the ceiling with junk.

Gotta feel sorry for the guy who posted that, too...you'll know he'll have to deal with it eventually.

That's pretty sad. I've seen a lot of collections that are the same way, but with video games/systems/anime/other related paraphernalia.

A guy who lives near me is like that.
He used to have a mini van in his driveway which never moved and probably had 30 or so old TV sets in it.

I would have read this thread sooner but I was obsessing over whether or not I should read every other post in the forum first.

I had to read them all three times, but then I felt bad, so I read them again, and punished myself... I still can't click the link yet :(

Check out the leather chair with the dust on it. You could literally stick a ruler in it and measure how deep it is. Just think, that is all human skin!!!
