You guys laugh, but FUCK affirmative action. I'm not racist in the slightest, but it sucks to know that if someone of another race applies for the exact same job that I do at the same time, he will have better chances of getting the job even if he isn't as qualified as myself. I sure wish I was a tax write off....

But when I think about it, the same could be said for white folk. I think more often than not people re-inforce their own racial stereotypes with the way the dress and ultimately act in public, then cry to someone for a hand out, which is just sick. If this project will truly help some white boys/girls in need just as affirmative action was supposed to help the minorities originally then props to them. But you watch, it'll just get abused like everything else.

While I think too many people cry foul when someone of another race with lower qualifications gets hired, they don't realize that white guys with lower qualifications get hired as well, and that qualifications or quantitative factors are not the only thing that play into it, but I still do think affirmative action needs to be phased out soon.

Exactly it really is a two way street.
If a minority gets hired due to his skin color, its AA.
If a white guy gets hired due to his skin color because the company not wanting certain "others" to have employement there, that's an unofficial AA.
I think many minorities are quick to scream "racism!" to quickly while many whites will often say "the best man will get the job" at the top of their lungs. I dont think either extreme is right and the reality is a muddied mess.

The best scholarship that I got to see yearly was one in my faculty at university.
It was for chinese students only, and was meant to encourage chinese students to enter the faculty (not even sure if other asians could apply... since I'm white I didn't really care).
The funny thing was, at least half of my class was asian, and most of those students were from Hong Kong or China. There were probably only 15-20 white people in a class of 144, and most of those were women.
Oh well, its sure good they have AA type scholarships to keep "the man" from taking over
