I know this isn't about video games but...

What's the best DVD backup software out? The DVD X Copy series is OK but I don't like the annoying "DVD-Backup" warning screen that comes on. Anyone tried any other software?

You can find everything you need over at:

Doom9.net

And the best part? It's all free. You can even remove region codes and macro vision from DVDs. I won't detail how, but if you browse around on the site you should find something. It all works well, you just need to be a bit more tech savvy to use them properly.

And I will assume you only need it for backup purposes, as I can't stand bootleggers. AND if you wonder how I know about all this stuff and claim not to be a bootlegger (no bootlegs in my 1200 DVD collection, thank you very much), it's because I have several R2 DVDs I need to remove the region on so I could watch them on ANY DVD player, instead of my crappy region free GE DVD player.

Enjoy.

Hey thanks alot, I didn't know you could remove the region codes, as I have alot of R3 DVDs.

After checking out the site...

There's alot of technical stuff in there, much of which I don't understand...

Read the DVD basics HERE.

Find all the software HERE.

Ripping guides can be found HERE.

You want the DVD Backup guide section for what you are trying to do.

The ripping guides should be able to walk you through the entire process easily. You just need to know what type of DVD you are ripping FROM (DVD-9 is dual layer, DVD-5 is single layer).

It's REALLY not that difficult and most of the guides tell you exactly what software to download for a given project.

PM me if you need help, I'll see what I can do.

LOL .... Back-Up Software. Well, since DVD/CD media software only lasts about 200 years, I can see why you might need that  .

Oh well, I guess people should cover their asses when posting something on the net.

I have some VERY expensive DVDs. You can bet your ASS I'm making a backup copy and watching it instead of my original whenever possible.

Though I definitely understand you scepticism. I myself have 1200 LEGIT DVDs. I also have some R2 DVDs that I've burned copies of to remove the region code. Definitely a bonus, IMO, and not against fair use laws.

I have backups of all my DVD sets that cost over $50 just for the sole purpose that I know they will get scratched.

I use DVD Decryptor and DVD shrink to make them fit and best of all is no warning screens.
