Which is better: Streets of Rage or Final Fight?

This really depends on what you are talking about. As a series Streets of Rage was worlds better. But if you are talking about just the first game from each, Final Fight is better.
But I love Streets of Rage 2 that game kills Final Fight.

Street of Rage 2 > any side scrolling beat em up ever. Yes, I've played AvsP, yes I've played TMNT, Battletoads, Double Dragon and Final Fight. SOR2 is just too fucking sweet.

But I agree, Final Fight 1 is much better than SOR1.

Why does everyone love part two of SOR so much? I prefer the first one. The music is SOOOOOO much better too.

Final Fight was better than the first SoR. But SoR 2 is the best. SoR3 was a bit of a misstep IMO. But still a solid beat em up.

For overall replay and enjoyment SoR2 is my altime fav. The Final Fight series just always seemed to be lacking that certain something.

The moves, the music, the atmosphere, the characters. Streets Of Rage series has it all. Just the music alone puts it at the top. I can remember sometimes just sitting there and listening to the music in the options screen. Just about every song was good. Yuzo Koshiro knew what the hell he was doing when he was making the soundtrack.

Final Fight 2 was my favorite final fight, just because it was the first final fight I played. I played part 1 years after. I love final fight to death its just i like SOR so much more mainly because of the atmosphere. Now final fight's atmosphere was cool to me especially part 2 as well as the soundtrack for part 2, but when you got the music pumpin to a rhythm of you whoopin somebody's ass it works better and thats what SOR did.

However as wierd as it may be, I like Guy as a character better than anything in SOR. Guy just rules. I'm a huge freakin Guy fan. I'd sit and listen to his Alpha 2 song over and over and over and it never got old yet i prefer SOR still :loco:

Arcade Final Fight wins hands down.

The SNES Final Fight was a crippled and hobbled version of the coin-op which had quite a bit missing from it. It controlled and felt nothing like the coin-op original. The sequels were kind of meh too.

I love final fight, but SOR2 is the best beat em up ever. The characters, the atmosphere, the bad guys, everything was a rip off of final fight, but done a little better. When it came out I remember just thinking it was the pinnacle of gaming. Ecspecially the alien horror house you fight in, its insane mental shit. Very very cool game.

Nothing beats the first time I played FINAL FIGHT in the arcades back in early 1990, but combined with Yuzo Koshiro's ahead of it's time Techno soundtrack on the first 2 games, (though he did #3 as well, but it was so-so) Nothing Beats out...

...the games just took everything that was great about the "Roving Brawler" genre and raised the bar so damn high that not much else could ever top it. FINAL FIGHT CD would be the closet thing to perfection I've seen on it's own note however.

I know the game as Rushing Beat, but yeah I remember it. It was a cool brawler for it's time as was Rushing Beat Shura... but I wouldn't put that on the competition mat alongside Final Fight and Bare Knuckles... though 8-Bit or Hyper 8-Bit if you're talking the PCE SCD version, the only other game that would be in direct competiton with these two games would be Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari / River City Ransom for that game's uniqueness and all around great gameplay.

This is a toughy...I love both worlds to death...I sometimes perfer Bare Knuckle over Bare Knuckle 2.

Yet I vote Final Fight, because of Haggar, Guy, and Cody. Hugo/Andre's first appearence, got a kick out of this Andre the Giant clone. Still one of my all time favorite legendary wrestlers of the WWF.

Yet Streets of Rage..so damn good..why can't I vote for both?

I voted for Streets of Rage. Final Fight is great but I like SOR a little more. Guy is the reason I play Final Fight. How about a Guy vs. SOR 2 Shiva? Those are my favorites from both games.

Double Dragon 1 and 2, Battletoads (arcade), Super Battletoads, River City Ransom, X-Men (6-player edition), Renegade, etc.

Final Fight CD had the best music of any version of it... unless you mean that one dude in the background of the Industrial Plant / Smelting Centre that's going "Ooooh Ahhaaaa Ohhhh oooh oooh!" then yeah that's pretty GAY alright. FFCD also didn't take out Poison and Roxy in lieu of Sid & Billy... and we got to see Jessica's tits practically popping out her white bra in the opening. ---Shit if I was Mike Haggar and saw that dread locked mutha fucka' DAMND with my girl's boobs in my face over a TV calling me at work... shit, I'd call up two of my droogs and we too would kick some shit.

Ok I was shootin' from the hip when I said that.. the music is high quality, and it does gruuve... but I don't really like the yelping as you described much... I guess I'm so focused on metal and industrial/techno that the FF music puts me off in some ways. Its good though.

I have high regards for all of Sega's Capcom ports. How is it that Sega made them all so well, did Capcom have something to do with their design?

Forgotten worlds, FFCD, Mercs, Strider, Ghouls n Ghosts, etc...
