Now, here is something that has been eating at me for a long time now. I've played Sonic Wings 3 for years now, and I've never faught the Nautilus. The condition can not be random, so... does anyone know how to reach him?

Anyone who has fought him... care to explain what you did to get there?

So from the overwhelming responses I got, I guess it is safe to assume no one here has ever fought the Nautilus... DAMN!

I'd really like to see this boss...

Out of curiousity, I did a web search about it and dug out a FAQ by Baby Bonnie Hood who also is a member here. The closest thing to the Nautilus I've found in it would be this paragraph:

"STAGE 8A: ATLANTIC
------------------

[...] There's actually an alternate final boss here, but its appearance is very rare.
This final boss is a massively gigantic sea creature, but strangely enough all
it does is swim right past you and leave behind lots of full powers. It does
not attack, and you cannot shoot it. Afterwards, the stage is complete and,
instead of your normal ending, you get a special ending involving a penguin.
All this sounds highly unbelievable, doesn't it...?"

So, maybe he isn't a boss after all... interesting. But, he does effect the ending. I need to find out how to reach him :)

Pfft, just play 256 times ;)

If every chance is 1/256... then the chance of hitting him is always 1 in 256, so hitting him once in 256 times is still as likely as hitting him while playing a single session ;)

Nautilo not is impossibile find... if you play many times for day, you can see him 100%

I think Nautilo appear 1/256 chances, but maybe is 1/128 chances, because I see many times.....

fpr exemple, Mambu (SONIC WINGS 2) is very difficult to see (I see 2 times in 10 years)...

in SONIC WINGS 3 there are secret very difficult to find...

haha the weird thing is that the first time I ever played all the way through Aero Fighters 3, Nautilus came out on the last level. It confused the hell out of me and disappointed me because I then assumed that there weren't any character-specific endings... thank god I was wrong

in SW2 there are 3 bosses.

LAA = evil eye, normal boss
Tenuki Chaud="the ghost" appear 1/4 chances I think
Mambu="the moon fish" appear 1/256 chances.

in SW3, Nautilo is better because you can obatain 120.000 pts and not 100.000.

normal boss after defeat is 100.000 pts.

Nautilo is not possibile damaged but after some seconds, appear on the screen 12 FULL ITEM (12 X 10.000=120.000 PTS)

Sounds like I need to check this game out. Never seriously considered it... I like the fighting games personally, but shooters are so badass, oh yes I love the shooters, and tricky shooters with aces up their sleeves are even more badass. Only on the Neo can you find so much passion and affection for the games it plays.
