Everyone has been talking about the Twin Snakes remake for Gamecube, but nobody mentions Snake Eater anymore. The current release is still a long ways off, but I think it's going to be one of my most anticipated games of 2004.

What is the story behind Snake fighting in the 60's? What kind of insane plot twists will they throw at us for this chapter?

So is it "Big Boss"? I haven't been keeping up on all the net info on this game, I was hoping to go into it without too much advanced knowledge. I assumed it would have to be Big Boss, as Snake is a clone of him and all.

It's big boss....and I think the clue was in a close up of his eyes during the trailer. Although, i know LITTLE TO NOTHING about the MGS mythos...so I could be wrong.

The game title is pretty interesting considering the previous games' storylines.

Exactly, I don't know either.

But I would bet that it is indeed Big Boss... although I'd love to see the connection to MGS and MGS2 plots... The game sure looks impressive. Can't wait for it's release! :drool_2:

All I can say is, it had better be Big Boss. Kojima better not throw in some time travel bull shit.

I'm as DIE-HARD as they come for the Metal Gear franchise as my avatar of Grey Fox from Metal Gear II: Solid Snake testifies, though I pretend "Sons of Liberty" never happened with the RAIDEN bullshit. Anyhow yeah man, I'm PUMP UP about Snake Eater. Probably the only Next Gen game I'm looking foward to (MGS Twin Snakes isn't Next Gen it's 1997/2.5)... and might even rebuy a PS2 to play it. Though I'll probably just head over to my droog Insane Jawa's house and enjoy playing as BIG BOSS doing Black Ops shit during the Cold War... YES! I've watched the trailer for this game probably 300 times by now and everytime I'm like DAMMIT HURRY UP AND GET RELEASED!

I will be all over this game when its released. Honestly i don't care to much to play the MGS remake, i want to play MGS3. All the trailers have the game looking to be an incredible experience. I can't wait to drop out of a tree on some unsuspecting soldier and then silence him with a swift slash to his neck. This is the kind of commando, one man army stuff i like.

The trailer was amazing, with the James Bond-style music. Really beautiful.

lol..I was thinking the same thing. Time travel stories 99% of the time end up mucking everything up somehow.

I've been avoiding any major news besides the initial game info released months ago. I wonder if this is game will feature The Patriots in order to connect MGS3 with 2? Maybe they turn Big Boss "to the dark side."

Maybe The Patriots will be mentioned, still, considering that they dies over 100 years ago, Hideo Kojima will give the story a nice twist, like what happened at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2.

It's Konami's magic, just check Silent Hill 3 or Anubis: Zone of the Enders.

I'm not anticipating it that much. I'm just gonna wait until it comes out and then see where the final product stands. Don't most of you remember how good MGS2:SoL looked when it was being previewed and hyped up? Well when the final version was out it was less than stellar. So I'll probably wait until Snake Eater takes a price cut. :oh_no:

When is the release date?

Hopefully there will be a playable demo at E3.

Supposedly November of this year.

I personally hope they don't get to fancy with the weapons this time. Every picture I've seen has Big Boss/Snake/whoever using a Colt .45, a M16, or an AK-47, which is cool. I'd also like to see hand to hand combat become more prominant in this one as well. Obviously, stealth is still going to be a factor, but Big Boss is someone who seems like he wouldn't mind killing some people.

On a somewhat related note, can anyone tell me what style of fighting someone like Big Boss (or any other Special Forces soldier) might use? Megadrive, I'm looking in your direction...

An elite military operative would use a quick and dirty form of hand to hand. I wouldn't really attribute it to any one style, it mainly consists of fast moves and takedowns designed to incapacitate/kill an opponent within a minimal amount of time. That, and there are no "rules of combat", simply gain the upper hand on your enemy as fast as possible and slit his throat. Nothing too fancy..

I hope we will get a lot of freedom to roam around.

I would hate to see the joke on us when we realize that the world is extremely linear and we're kept in bounds with invisible walls. :(

PS: Camo paint is all well and good, but I want it to be so extreme we'll be standing right in front of them without their knowledge, Arnold in Predator style.

I hate Grand Theft Auto.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty's freedom "dose" was perfect.

"What is this? Another grand theft auto?"

"No! A sneaking mission."

"This is no vice city...We're in a jungle. Go eat snakes!"

Perhaps you wish to be confronted by an impassable wall of tree textures, but I'd rather just have a wider area to work in.

Wide area + mountains = Good.

No need for gigantic trees or invisible walls.

Don't worry, Kojima said that just about every jungle related game out there has a fixed path but tis one won't. It will be created real a real jungle, you will have a destination and its up to you how you get there.

That being said MGS1 and 2 are 2 of my faves games of all time. I have no idea why everyone hates 2, jawdropping graphics and one of the best plots hands down imo. If Raiden is your main excuse then you suck.
