You will be interested to learn that ADV has secured the rights to the series for release on DVD in R1!!!

How do I know? From THIS THREAD over at Anime On DVD.com. Evidently the trailer showed up on an ADV catalog disc. As far as I know, this is the FIRST time this has been made public.

And people thought it would never happen...

Anyone else excited?

Probably want to release 'Robotech: The Untold Story'

So, will they use the existing dubs, or new ones? I guess the first 2 parts are dubbed, right? Streamline dub, and the Asian educational dub. And then there is the 'Robotech' version of one of the parts. And, I am certain they will need to clean up the show as well, do to its age.

It will be nice to eventually see all of the series though. I never saw any of the third part.

This isn't the first of this news. Remember back when I was obssessing over Wedding Peach (finally) being licensed? That same Anime Con announcement mentioned all 3 parts of MegaZone 23. AFAIK, isn't this the first ever OVA produced?

As far as I know, there isn't much info on the MZ23 DVDs, so I don't think I can answer those questions.

And CCC- I remember your WP obsession, but I don't recall the MZ23 announcement... with so many announcements being made, I'm sure to miss things. Of course, how I missed THIS one, I don't know... and I'm not sure if MZ23 was the first OVA...

I don't know much, do I? :D

Actually, the first OVA was Dallos (1983, directed by Oshii Mamoru), although Megazone 23 (1985) wasn't far behind. The breakdown of Megazone 23 (pronounced "two three," btw) is as follows:

Megazone 23 (originally released 1985, 81mins)
Megazone 23 Part II ~Himitsu ku-da-sa-i~ (originally released 1986, 83mins)
Megazone 23 III ~Eve no mezame~ (originally released 1989, 53mins)
Megazone 23 III ~Kaihou no hi~ (originally released 1989, 53mins)

Oh, yeah -- I forgot I'd seen Shogo and BD (and a whole mess o' Garlands) in a Super Robot Taisen promo film running in a gamestore in Akihabara at the beginning of January. I'm getting some fairly heavy flashbacks thanks to all this -- my first cosplay (at AnimeCon'91 in San Jose) was Shogo.
