I think Sony has perfected the controller when it brought out the dual analog controller. Its very comfortable, has more then enough buttons, the buttons are easilly reached and placed perfectly they could put in some trrigger buttons but that would be overkill. I think it was a nice touch to reuse the same design for the PS2, no need to learn a new button layout (I know the PS2 dual shock is pressure sensitive and PSone's isnt)

As far as arcadee sticks go the Dreamcast stick cannot be beat!

I was going to make this a poll but I want to know what controllers you fine folks like. I do need another contrtoller:rolleyes:

Best controller of all time? I'd say it's a tie between the Neo 'old style' joystick and the Japanese Saturn pad.

If you're talking about 3D games, then it's another story. I don't really have an opinion on what the best next-gen controller is. Although I really don't care too much for the Gamecube's controller.

Although my personal favorite would be the Dreamcast Twinsticks- which, of course only works with 2 or 3 games on the DC :)

I would have to go with the PS2 dualshock and the old style Neo stick :emb:

The Neo's stick is the best all around joystick on the market, followed by the DC Agetec stick.

The PS2 pad is just so damn versitile, and I love the d-pad!

If you are talking stock controllers, then the Neo Old Style gets my vote, with its arcade precision micro-switch control.

I also prefer the N64 controller when talking pads, very comfortable, plus bonus points for re-introducing analog control.

Bah - the PSX controller sucks. 4 shoulder buttons? Please. Give me 6 face buttons instead.

I think the Gamecube controller is probably the best ever made as far as 3D games are concerned. Other then that my vote goes for the awesome Saturn Pad.

For system pack-in controller: Old Style.

Non pack-in: The Agetec DC joystick is great for fighters. For PS2, The Hori SC2 sticks are made with the same parts and are just as good.

For a pad, I like the Dual Shock. I've never had problems having 4 shoulder buttons, and it's easier for me if a move calls for all 3 kicks to be pressed simultaniously, to get 2 with my thumb and 1 with a shoulder button. I can push the 4 buttons on the face of the Dual Shock with my thumb by pressing in between them, but I don't know what kind of thumb you'd need to press 3 buttons next to each other simultaniously.

Least favorite would be a race between the stock DC controller and the N64 controller.

Old style stick for the NGH gets my vote. Do one thing and do it well - that's what I say.

Old style NGH and the Japanese Saturn pad, yet I still place the Agetec DC Joystick with those two

I was talking about best controller to play Rpg's Platformers etc. Thats why at the end i added the Agetech stick cuase I would never EVER use a control pad to play a fighter. I just figured everyone used joystick controllers to play fighters :D However I could be wrong. I would have to say the Neo Geo Stick is a very very close second.

I am suprised some people actually like the N64 pad. I thought that and the original Xbox pad was the most uncomfortable controllers of all time. The Nec Avenue 6 pad always felt cheap to me but i suppose thats cuase the one i had crapped out on me so I am biased.

Playsttion controller are rip-offs. They follow the same look and feel of the 6-button SNES controller but simply add two exra top buttons and two analogue sticks later in its lifetime. I've always loved my huge, black, sturdy Neo controllers, as far as gamepads go, I love the Sega Saturn 3D analogue Nights into Dreams controller, and the Sega Dreamcast had a brilliant design for its controllers, especially when it came to fighting games, sports was fairly straight-forward six action buttons was certainly enough for me.

I really like the GameCube controller a lot, but it doesn't have a leg to stand on in this competition, for lamest recycled ideas, look up Sony PSOne or PS2 controllers on the net. You'll completely unoriginal knockoffs of true classics.

the N64 was atrocious in my opinion, but the Super NES and GameCube controllers are easy to use, easy to grip, reliable, solid, it has force rumble-pack hitback built into the controller for the Cube pad.

Saturn had some excellent controllers, really the only two systems that I bought and would never recommened because of lousy games, sub-par performance, and shitty-ass controllers. Check 'em out...

Panasonic 3DO - Daist chain allows multi-player by hooking controller ports into other superceding controller ports up to 6 or 8 I think can play, maybe not everygame though. Anyway the controller got stuck a lot, it was black with grey buttons, 3 buttons besides the start button, and damn what a drag, The controller was fat, clunky, and above all they were just plain difficult to use. Stay as far away as you can.

Atari Jaguar - I fought a losing battle for my beloved Jag for nearly 3 years then wisened up, looked at the controller looked at the supposedly '64-bit' cartridge loading machine underneath my television and I became kinda upset that I was duped into buying a system just cuz it says its 64-bit and all that good stuff. Jaguar kicked ass in some areas, and still can pull off a lor of amazing on-screen techniques such as blowing up asteroids, blasting vector based enemies in Tempest and personally a very colorful cute game I liked was Rayman. That game showed the potential behind the machine unfortunately that controller just scared too many of us gamers' off.

I'm surprised no one has said a keyboard yet :loco:

The Hori Gamecube pad is an excellent controller. Sure its pretty much the snes pad but its actually easier/more comfortable to hold.

For 3d, I've yet to play with a more comfortable controller than the gamecube's.

For 2d, it's gotta be the saturn's.

Same here.

The Dual Shock 2 just fits perfectly in my hands. I had high hopes for the Japanese Saturn pad, but it's d-pad tore my thumb all to hell. I could barely pull off a dragon punch with that thing. I do however dig it's layout though.

What he said.

In the PS1/N64 era, I would have said the Duel Shock. It was definitely better than the N64's cruddy controller.

If Sony would switch the D-Pad and the left analog stick on their next controller (Duel Shock 3?) then it would probably be my favorite.

If you're talking about controllers as in "Sticks"... then I'd have to say the original Click Stick NEO:GEO controller. If you're talking general use game pads then I'd have to say this revamped version of it's original rectangle is my favorite...

My favourite controller is the Ps2 Dual Shock. At first I didn't think I'd like it because of the segmented D pad, shoulder buttons and absense of 6 face buttons, but I can play fighters just fine with it. I prefer the dual shock over everything else.

I also like the japanese saturn pad.

Japanese Saturn pads are dope, with Neo old-style sticks right up there...however...

Everyone here ranting wildly about the joys of the PS pad need to check themselves...that pad wouldn't be here without the sweeter-than-sweet SNES pad to blaze the trail. All Sony did was add some extra shoulder buttons and those shitty Dual Analog sticks, which to me are the worst amongst all analog sticks (DC,GC,XB).

I have no idea how anyone can put the DC's analog stick over the Dual Shock's. If the DC controller has one weakness it's a lousy analog stick.

GC's sticks are so good it's unreal, though.
