As I'm sure you know by now if you're following this series, ADV is be releasing the first DVD on April 27th. There's a box and 2 lapel pins with the special edition. One of them is Kamineko!

There's a trailer which lets you hear Yukari's and Chiyo's English dub voices here . Yukari's voice is going to take some getting used to for me... but Chiyo's is perfect! The thing is, they know we all want to hear Osaka, but they aren't going to let us hear her dubbed voice yet, it seems.

If you read the manga you need to see this. Why? Reason 1 Reason 2

I hear they will be be releasing the series like the R-2 release, going by school year instead of the usual release schedule.

Oh and the 3rd issue of the manga will be released in America on Febuary 24th.

The thing I'm worried about is ADV hyping it to be something it's not, like they did with Excel Saga (which isn't NEARLY as funny as they'd like you to believe). That would just ruin it for some people.

After reading the first two volumes of the manga, I'm dying for the R1 anime releases! I hope they live up to the extremely high expectations that I have for them. Seeing Osaka and Sakaki in full motion is going to be a dream come true. I am really glad that ADV picked up Azumanga Daioh the anime so quickly after the manga releases, I hate waiting forever

@slerch666 (since I know you will show up here sooner or later ;)): Did you see that they pushed back vol. 2 of I'm Gonna be an Angel again?!

The anime is definately a whole new experience after seeing the manga. The voice acting is top notch (Ho-chan as Kagura!) Asakawa Yuu (Motoko in Love Hina) as Sakaki, Hisakawa Aya (Chloe in Noir) as Nyamo... it's good stuff.

The musical trailer on that site has the OP song set to various scenes from the anime, you might want to check it out.

Finally, it's about time it got licensed in NA. If you like the manga, definitely give anime and games a shot. You won't be dissapointed.

You'd be surprised... Tanaka Rie (Chi's voice in Chobits) is seiyuu as Yomi. :)

No kidding, she sounds nothing like Chii. What talent.

I love your avatar. Actually I had Seung Mina in her 1 player costume by that same artist as my avatar for the longest time last year.

Yeah, I saw that. Evidently the discs are finished, but Synch-Point had some... issues with the front cover of the DVD that the licensor didn't really like. One of the characters was taking the spotlight and they felt it should be another. Supposedly the "new" date is the date they'll hit, however.

As far as Azumanga Daioh, I had mine prepurchased, with box, the day Rightstuf put it up for sale! :D Along with a lot of other ADV stuff they put up the same day :D

Looking at those animated gifs makes me want to check out the trailer, but since it's the English dub, which I'll never watch, I'm not going to bother right now. Now if there's a Japanese trailer...

I haven't actually seen any of this, as I'm not a fan of fansubbing, though I do get a hell of a kick out of the manga! I really like the style. This is one Anime I'm really looking forward to...

Actually it's been licensed for quite awhile. ADV announced it at Otakon last year I think. It takes time to dub and master the DVDs. I'm glad they aren't just pushing out the door ASAP. I'm hoping they take their time with it and make sure it's RIGHT before releasing the DVDs...

If you don't want to hear the dub (I don't blame you) the musical trailer is for you. It doesn't have much voice acting (ok, I think it has ONE thing Chiyo says half way through) but it will let you see what the series is like.

And I'm pretty sure it was licensed in April of last year.

Is it the same trailer they have on the ADV DVDs (basically the opening animation)? If so, I've already seen it :D

If not... I'll go check it out!
