Try Funcoland too. I went in about a month ago just browsing, a guy came in with a backpack full of shit that he didn't want anymore to trade in on new stuff. Total value they'd give him? $15

I gave him $20. Got N64 games like Perfect Dark, Goldeneye... Also a black sports edition dreamcast that's damned near mint, flawless, as well as several other common DC games like the Sonic Adventures and Power Stone games. Not bad at all.

Funny you should mention this. I was at Funcoland recently, and they had a bunch of N64 and DC systems (used of course) for $20 each (with a controller). I guess they're just dumping them pretty much . . . who would have ever thought DC systems would go for $20 a pop (or even less)?!?!

Isn't that illegal to do on their property? To undercut them on their soil? Sure, Funcoland and the other places fuck you over sometimes, and lord knows I was there when I would have offered more there and then, but I'm not sure you're supposed to do that.... right?

I have seen stuff like that happen right in front of the workers at EB games. They didn't even care.

Actually no, it's not illegal, due to the fact the sign outside says "WE BUY, SELL, and TRADE USED GAMES" and no where do I see a law or tiny printed document on who sells or buys. Yet that is how I believe it. Yet it is illegal for employees/managers to do that. Yet if the two customers within the store (Like Chimp and Matri for example) it is perfectly fine

Chimp, the reason why Dreamcast were so cheap, because Funcoland, GameStop etc. has haulted Dreamcast trade-ins completely, since this will be offical Feb 22nd...so if anyone is going to find some cheap DC parts or games, NOW is the time.

Yeah I also think it really isn't a problem to outbid the store on stuff . . . in fact, I did it myself when I bought a Turbografx-16 system, two controllers, and five games, for $15 from a guy who brought it into a Funcoland. The store wouldn't pay him anything for it, so I offered to buy it off him . . . then later, shipped the system and games to Biomotor Unitron at cost.

As for them discontinuing trade-ins on DC and N64 stuff, thanks for the information. I may need to pick up a few extra systems as backups before they all disappear!

No problem at all Chimp, already 2 out of the 5 stores in my area wiped out NES and SNES stuff. So that is why I have been posting on here, and Ebay prices have risen

here are some great finds i've had in the last year or so:

EB games:

Raiden Project (PSX)--$16 (turned around and sold it 3 months later for $40

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (DC)--$16 (still have it and play it to this day)

King of Fighters Dream Match '99 (KOF '98) (DC)--$11 SEALED from a guy on Ebay. turned around and sold it about 5 months later for $25 on Ebay (now i own the import DC version).

that's all i can think of right now.

Actually, the sign doesn't need to. Certianly, you could get banned form Gamestop or EB for life for that.

Could, mind you. I doubt any employee would care much.

when i'm working and customers do this to each other, i don't mind at all, if they are prepared to paymore than what we offer them, everyone's happy. Besides, the guy who gets the cash of the other guy usually spends that cash straight away in-store, so we work out better off anyway.

read carefully....

it says "WE" not "YOU", buy, sell, and trade used games.....i always ask when interferring with a trade in....hardly ever get refused...BUT the transaction takes place OUTSIDE the store....

General Funcoland rules are that you cannot do that on the property. I worked at Funco/ GameStop on and off for 5 years and depending on the manager either I would go outside and make the transaction or I would just do it right there. Though I am sure that the District Manager would not have approved the individual store managers didn't mind at all. I've bought everything from Odyssey II to Vectrex to XBox games.

More on topic... I have had more finds in the wild that I could possibly think of. Some of the best include Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Saga, and various systems including Laseractive and our very own Neo Geo.

exactly, but like I stated earlier, if the two customers agree, that is perfectly fine I feel. The store itself cannot stop them from doing anything.

Well, as an employee I've generally bene told we cannot make offers on anything Gamestop resells, but we can make offers on anything we DON'T resel

Which, in ten days, will include NES, SNES, Genesis, and Dreamcast stuff. =]
