May seem like an idiotic question, but how do you view it? I've clicked on it, save target as, blah, blah, blah and all I get is zilch. MP says the file is unplayable for some reason.

Yeah, it definitely looks impressive to say the least, the original is a little underrated in my opinion.

I'm WAY more psyched about Ghost in the Shell:Innocence though.

It's a manga but only had one vhs/dvd release it was a anime movie from 1989 .It's from the dude who created "New Domion Tank Police" and the ever so popular "Ghost in the Shell" his name is Masumune Shiro (sp?)

Check it out Manga brought both the VHS and DVD to the states.
Best cyber punk series with "Cyber City Oedo" and "Ghost in the Shell".

A buddy of mine in japan says that it was still using CG not cel shading, even it looks close to it.

Damn this movie gets better and better every time I see new footage on it.
I had seen a short clip on a TV show here in the UK, which showed Deunan batiling a tank in a ruined cathedral; and I'd also seen a much shorter version of the one linked to in this thread - but damn -after seeing that large extended trailer (thanks Gatchaman) I really cant wait for it to come out.

I just hope to God that it gets picked up quickly for a R1 DVD release.

this is a gift from God. I'm the biggest Masamune Shirow fan of all time.

excuse me while i go and pull a chuplayer....

fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfap etc.

EDIT: Only one gripe so far, the soundtrack. It looks like the soundtrack is gonna be done by the mainstream of dance/electronic music, hopefully it won't sound all lifeless and uninspired like most of the music has become(a shadow of its former self). All i can really do is wait and hear it. I'll probably just order the complete soundtrack. Although I wish the soundtrack was like the Ghost in the Shell psx game with skilled japanese/european/detroit techno and electro artists.

I was able to get the quicktime version, but for some reason MP says there is an error, the specified file could not be found, oh well. Very impressive:buttrock:

I love AppleSeed, I still have some of the original Eclipse Comics U.S. releases, old Briareos vinyl model kits, etc. The anime sucked ass, in my opinion. They have yet to make an anime based off of Shirow's manga that is more than a pale shadow of the material it is based on. Downloading the trailer now, here's hoping it kicks ass.

Oh HELL yes! Looks like they're re-doing it the way it should have been done in the first place. Multiple gun platforms walking through the city... :drool_2:

Now if only they'll re-do Black Magic. The anime, Black Magic M-66 was nothing but a sub-chapter of the manga, there is so much story that didn't get told. :(

I have to agree with Spin, the music sounds iffy. Most of the world is a smoking wasteland, with Olympus being an oasis in a desert of ruin. The music should convey a darker reflection of that world.

Masamune Shirow, though it's just a pen name, not his real one.

Shirow is a god among men. Appleseed>Ghost In the Shell.

I used to read the manga obsessively, it had some amazing themes that were just as good as anything the best cyberpunk writers at the time were producing.

I did get the single VHS anime release, and thought it was competent but it didn't blow me away. This, however looks amazing. I don't think I'll be able to wait for a US release of this on DVD (if there even is one), looks like I'll be importing.

You have to order them in cases :crying:

 .....damn they are nice looking to.

Local store has them marked up for a bit more than the MSRP breakdown per individual figure, but the link at the top of that page is for an online retailer that should be selling them individually. If not, I doubt it would be too hard to do a "group buy" with some other folks on the forums and then split the case up.
