Most n00bs don't even read the forum description, so if it has, in big flashing letters, "Neo Geo", maybe they'll understand what it's about.

Great idea.

I was thinking of making this same suggestion awhile ago.

A lot of newer members innocently think it's the Unrelated Topics forum.

I totally agree. I am sick and tired of seeing tons of
unrelated threads on GD. I will ask the keeper of
the site to consider this.

Yeah, far too many new members have ADD.

General Discussion
Our universal neo forum made available for related topics.

Unrelated Topics
Off topic discussion not associated with the other forums.

Maybe instead of changing forum titles we should hand out bottles of adderall instead?

Naah, I think the problem is not that the new members don't pay attention, it's that the forum description is a little vague.

'Our universal neo forum' doesn't necessarily sound like a forum dedicated to the Neo-Geo. If you're new here, you might misunderstand this as 'our universal (anything goes) neo (the name of the site) forum'

Also, quite a few other BBS's name their Unrelated Topics 'General Discussion'.

Changing the forum name to 'General Neo-Geo Discussion', and the forum description to 'Discuss everything and anything about the Neo-Geo' would go a long way to reducing the number of misposted threads.

I totally agree with this simply because I was even confused how the General Discussion worked and did not simply post there until I saw someone flamed for posting something unrelated to the Neo that it was a section dedicated only to the Neo. But after I saw that, I only posted Neo things there. :)

I agree with Average Joe, sometimes ppl seem to suffer from ADD by the dozens. A good example are all the NGCD-related threads in "24bit" - do ppl ever use the search function or even bother to read the thread topics of the fucking first page of a forum? I mean, why starting another "CDZ a good buy?" thread if there are three of them on the first two pages? And the list goes on...

With that in mind, I doubt that renaming General could help to lower the # of OT threads but you never know until you try so I say let's do it.

Unfortunately, it's not even just people new to the forum. There are people that have been here over a year that still do it. :help:
