Makes me miss my 240SX. Looked stock from the outside but inside had an SR20DET and a sticker in the back window that read "Rice Eater" and an empty rice bowl while my liscense plate said FUKRICE

No offense but you had an SR20DET, they aren't street legal, and it's gonna run close to 10 grand for one installed.

those anti-rice pics are funny, but some of them are stupid, they're ripping on a few clean looking cars, just because they're imports. those guys are a bunch of american muscle car fanboys, probably fucking rednecks.

Never said it was street legal, that's the joy of living in hick ass Louisiana...cops wouldn't know what they were looking at.

Overall it cost me $3100 shipped to the Port of New Orleans for the front clip, even came with the ECU which is sometimes hard to come by and the tranny and $1500 installation.....that's actually not even 1/2 of $10 grand after everything though I would say I was out around $5500 considering I had to pretty much get the engine rebuilt and the guy had to import most, if not all the parts.

Seriously if you were quoted that price you were getting ripped off unless it was a minty fresh black top with 0 miles on it....mine was a red top because I didn't want to modify my car too much (It was an S13)

Now for $10,000 you might be thinking of the RB's out of the Skyline which sounds about right but I would never think of putting one in my 240 because it would twist the frame, it can only support a little over 400hp

A RB26DETT (Skyline GT-R motor) only put out 280hp stock, which is the limit in Japan.

280 stock but with a few addons you can easily get over 400 hp. The 280hp is nowhere near the full potential of the RB26. Hell I have seen a few SR20DET's claiming to have over 500hp but I have yet to see conclusive evidence of it.

Its true, they limited the engine to make 280hp because of some gentleman's agreemant in Japan. If you think that a twin turbocharged, inline 6 engine is only capable of producing 280hp, then your seriously mistaken. You can easily get 400hp from the RB26 with the proper tuning and a couple of mods.

As for the SR, I didn't know it could produce that much unless you overhaul the whole engine.

Not sure what they have done and until I see evidence I will call bullshit on it, either way I have seen proof of over 500 for an SR20DETT Black Top and so I believe it is possible for that particular model but I doubt the Red Top could handle it.

the GTR skyline has about 400HP stock, did you ever find it funny that damn near every sports car in Japan is only 276HP? It's due to an auto agreement of trying not to "one up" another company by HP, you can think of it as Intel and AMD having gigahertz wars, bigger numbers don't mean faster car always.

I can't speak for other cars, but the skylines power is held back by a simple computer chip (the ECU i think), you can easily get a reprogrammed black market chip, and you will have the full 400hp.

IIRC you don't even need to replace the ECU chip but there is a jumper on the ECU that lowers the power. If you break that solder bridge and make another one somewhere else you will get the full potential of an RB26DETT
