other systems off topic?

Just trying to guage members opinion on recent threads relating to other than Neogeo-SNK tech issues.
Is it healthy for the forum, or is it going off tack, and may be better discused elsewhere?
Some opinion from the mods would be appreciated.

I'm not a mod but I think they had talked about this previously. In my opinion I don't mind other arcade related tech talk. I think home console stuff can go in Unrelated and be answered must faster. Hopefully the majority will still be Neo talk anyway but I don't mind some extra stuff.

Agree with Lithy, arcade talk should be tolerated however other consoles and unrelated tech issues ("my microwave emits weird noises") should go into unrelated.

As long as its game releated, im all for it.

All arcade stuff is more than OK to me. Consoles, specially classic ones and their mods, are welcome as well. The only thing that shouldn't be tolerated is modchipping current consoles, and "how can I play CDR with XXX console".

I need to be able to ask questions about other arcade system in here it's the only place I know where people actually know what the hell they're talking about.....

I have:

neo 4 slot
mem reader
neo aes
consolized one slot
neo arcade sticks
mas neo style arcade sticks
neo style super guns
console controllers modded for arcade

But I also have:

a standup cps2 cabinet
cps2 boards
mas Capcom style arcade sticks
mas supernova
an atomiswave
pgm system
and other Jamma boards

And if I couldn't ask people here about that stuff, I would be screwed........ since unrelated topics would not be as visited as Tech topics on the Tech boards by the tech masters

Personally, it means a lot to me and my stay here that I can talk about more than neo tech stuff......

So many people here know so much about arcade stuff that it would be a shame to not let them help people who are looking for that information.

I agree with Amano.

And this is how it seems to be going, note how most of the Xbox mod stuff stays in unrelated.

I think your fine here as long as you don't ask for MAME/Emu help.

Ops, I forgot that, it's obvious that asking for help on how to use TEH ROMZ shouldn't be tolerated as well.

Yah, while the site is focussed on Neo Geo, we have to recognise this is also one of the best resources for sorting all your arcade problems.

How can I win big on slot machines, time after time?

I think arcade-related questions are ok, but I'm not sure about non-Neo home systems. The only reason I say that is to avoid coming into the tech forum at some point and seeing 49 of the first 50 threads being "OMFG! My POS2 doesn't werk!!111!"

Just my thoughts. I guess as long as everything is in moderation it's not a big deal.

i think arcade and consoles should be discussed here. I dont see a problem.

Arcade and home console tech questions are welcome if my opinion counts for anything here.

Im all for it!!! Its true..this is prolly 1 of the only places people can come to ask or give answers and actually know what there talkn bout. And who knows, maybe on the flipside this will bring more peeps to the site and start new Neo-Freaks as a result of it
