FUCK! Dracula X has jumped in price recently! This though takes the cake. Look at the bid history. Couple fruit cakes 2 french fries short of a happy meal.

Dracula X was on my want list for the past year up until few weeks back.

I noticed in the past year it has went from 35-40 to constantly 50 and up these days. It's really spiked up.

BTW, speaking of Saturn you know that obscure games thread of mine? Well yeah I been meaning to update it but be patient, its gonna take a while with school and whatnot. Plus I'm currently enthralled with Saturn JP DOOM which obviously has been TWEAKED! (The US version runs at about 5 FPS)

But stay tune alright... I got some REAL NICE surprises in store... :D

EDIT: oh forgot to mention, I got Dracula X about a week ago for 45 shipped... he also threw in couple games. :)

First Taromaru and now this? Man, $100 bucks for Dracula X, that's nuts. As I said in the other thread though, at least the Saturn market will stabilize and come back down to earth eventually.

Like I said in a previous thread, for the past month people have been bidding stupidly on Saturn stuff. Taromaru going for near 500$, Sengoku Blaede going for near 200$, Kingdom Grandprix going for near 100$, and now Dracula X going for 100$.

Heh, funnily enough the game I paid the most for (though I don't own KG yet) was Sengoku Blade for 65$. :buttrock:

Although I must say, I do feel sorry for whoever pays the typical 40-50$ for a copy of Planet Joker. :D

I really hope that nobody bidding on the Saturn version of SOTN thinks it's going to be better than the PSX version because the Saturn is a superior 2D machine.

SOTN was designed ground up as a PSX game and that's why it's better on PSX. The Saturn version is a port of the PSX original.

Not that I'd knock anyone getting it for the playable Maria or just to have for their collection. But the PSX is just flat out better, and alot cheaper.

I never had much desire to get it, I played the PSX to death in Japanese and again in English and figured I didn't wanna play it again with slowdown and less fx. The PSX transparencies really worked in this game- and I'm generally someone who isn't terribly fond of those fx in 2D games.

The real import gem for me is Rondo of Blood for the Duo. I STILL don't have a Duo and I am still dying to get it. Everytime I pull out my Castlevania games I think about it and feel incomplete.

i agree here. i bought the game when it first came out, thinking it was going to be better than the PSX version, but i was wrong. the PSX version is a lot smoother and a lot more polish, with better effects like real transparencies. the extras in the saturn version aren't worth the price tag. the added levels look really out of place, and playing as maria isn't that much fun. the voices are a lot better, though.

rondo of blood, however, is worth every penny, so save up for that instead. it has the coolest soundtrack to grace any game, and the gameplay is straight-up old school, dracula ass-whooping.

The Dracula X on the Saturn is so lame because a subsidary of Konami handled the port... Konami themselves did not.

Had Konami handled the port then the Saturn rev. would have definitely been the superior of the two.

Glad you posted this, similar sickness is happening in the UK in the reverse....

During 2002/03, the Japanese only Saturn version (which i have ), was the more expensive, though in recent times the PSX version has risen, the usa version can be had for around £30, but the PAL version with music cd is reaching a full near£100, unreasonable as i want it

You know, one has to wonder why all these "retro-games" are seeing gigantic price increases. I mean, it couldn't have anything to do with the gradual decline of the fun in games could it... :spock:

I bet it will go over, it happened to the NGPC when some UK magazine posted the ''rarity'' of the games. I think there are still some stores that sell Dracula X for 50-60.

I'm glad I bought all the Saturn games I wanted brand new as they were released in Japan (and some domestic titles, too :)).

I would hate to be getting into Saturn imports, now, though I did pay $999.00 Canadian for my import Saturn system before they were available over here, so I guess that makes up for it. ;)

Never played the Saturn version, but I just can't see it being better than the PSX version. The transparencies being gone would suck big time, I would think.

And Dracula X on Duo? I owned that at one time, and I think it sucks. Maybe it was because I was big into SOTN at the time, but I was let down pretty badly.

The thing that sucks about the Saturn version from what I hear is that you do not get any fog/mist in the watch tower like you do in the PSX version of SOTN. That was one of the coolest area's of the game simpy because of the fog...

The funny thing is, it's going for more these days in Japan as well. It used to go dirt cheap, but lately it's been selling upwards of $50-60 US.

Dracula X is one of the reason I still keep my Duo :)
